First make sure your getting plenty of fluids (at least 72 oz), plenty of fiber rich foods (grains, fruits, veggies, and nuts), and try going for a walk to get things moving. Sometimes over the counter meds aren't necessary.
You can take ducolax or milk of magnesium for the constipation
