ripping/ episiotomy

I'm 31 weeks pregnant with my first!!! I am so excited to meet this little guy and have been counting down the days... as the Labour part approaches I am terrified not of the pain but the possibility of tearing or needing an
episiotomy. ... I am litterally panniking at the thought... any words of encouragement or advise? ??

I've had both. My episiotomy was worse than tearing. In fact I didn't even know I tore until after. With my youngest two I didn't tear at all. I promise when your pushing and going through it all you won't even feel it. Afterwards it is sore though.

You won't feel the tear or the cut, the contractions will over power all that.  Unless you get pain meds, then you just won't feel anything.

You can tell your provider that you do not want an episotomy. I know I already made it very clear that I will not have one and my bf knows to make sure it doesn't happen.  Natural tears heal better.
And they are right slow steady pushes. That's what I did with my last and I didn't tear

I know it's scary,  I desperately try not to think about that too much!  My sister had three natural births with no tearing or episiotomy,  and she was slow but steady!  Try to focus on that if possible!  All the best! X

Most women rip because they push too hard and too fast when baby is crowning. Your vagina isn't able to stretch slowly like it needs to to accommodate baby's head. Just remember to five small short pushes instead of listening to the excited people around yelling for you to push harder.

I'm 37weeks 3days. I was like  really  freaked out about it a few weeks ago but now that she could be here any day I'm  not  so worried.  If I rip I'll  rip. I'm to the point where I just want to hold her in my arms instead of in my belly...
