If you can't quit smoking don't get pregnant. PERIOD . Being stressed isn't an excuse , I've been stressed excessively for the first 4 months of my pregnancy and my last time smoking (marijuana) was on thanksgiving (3 weeks after conceiving) . It's been plenty of times when I felt like I needed to smoke or drink but not everyone is lucky enough to have a healthy baby after making bad choices. I just love my son too much & I do everything I can to keep him healthy & happy .... Just my opinion , a mom is supposed to be strong, being pregnant & smoking is just stupid . Who's more important you or your child ?

I really wasn't aiming this at you. But the point in the matter is it can pass and show positive in your baby, therefore it DOES get to your baby, that in itself is enough to scare me to stop. I don't want my newborn testing positive for marijuana! And just because someone else "was completely healthy" doesn't mean you'll be that lucky, a lot of moms smoke all the way through and have "completely healthy" babies, some don't get so lucky, some end up in the nicu or delivering preterm. You never know if your child is completely healthy til the day it's born, and even then, you don't know until your child is older. My mom smoked cigarettes with all three of her kids, my sister had SIDS and thank GOD they saw her stop breathing or she'd be dead... I have asthma that developed when I was about 3.. no other family history of it, likely linked to smoking. Is marijuana legal in your state? Because if a doctor is suggesting you smoke marijuana to cut back on stress and morning sickness, he can get in serious trouble for that.. unless it's medically prescribed, marijuana is a controlled substance. There are plenty other ways to deal with stress and morning sickness.

My mom smoked halfway with me and I have severe asthma you should really consider quitting completely not just cutting back

All this over saying 2 or 3 times and that was my first trimester? I'm 21 weeks now so I'm "assuming" 8 weeks is plenty of time for your system to get rid of it. My moms friend smoked pot all three of her pregnancies and nothing happened to them and they didn't get taken or was she questioned. And I also asked when I got my ultrasound last week and my son is completely healthy. And he's actually a week ahead of time in size. I was recommended to smoke because the stress and how sick I was. And I didn't do it from a blunt which had tobacco residue in it which is bad I sat with my friend and she used the vaporizer, I didn't inhale anything I just sat in the room. And I had quit smoking 2 years before I got pregnant and was very wary about doing anything that invoked it.

Actually they CAN take your baby over it. Lets remind ourselves that even if I personally dislike it, it's not my business if you do like it. But it IS illegal. Just like any other drug. Also, are you gonna keep doing illegal things when your baby is born and risk losing your baby? Because they can give you jail time or probation. Most likely probation. I honesty just don't think it's worth it. And to me it's really yucky!

My first daughter I quit smoking the day I found our I was pregnant. But with my second. I tried and had a hard time. I still smoked 5-10 a day. Both girls were perfectly healthy. It causes a lot of stress on u and the baby to quit in a pregnancy. Cutting back is you're best bet. No need to stress urself out anymore then you're going to be already with being pregnant.

My mom smoked both while pregnant with all four of us and we all had breathing problems at birth. My brother and I had severe asthma because of it. My son had trouble breathing at birth because I was around so much second hand smoke with my first pregnancy. I'd ask her not to smoke inside but I was 16 and it was her house. It's your personal choice but at the end of the day yes MJ is legal in some states but in the majority of them it is a controlled substance. I don't know how social services would handle it so why risk it??.. its a personal choice but not for me:)

i know two people who had their child taken away from the baby testing positive at birth, that is NOT made up, call your local social services.. i dont know about you ladies but i dont even allow someone around my children that is smoking pot, they are WAY too young and innocent to have to see that kind of thing, let alone doing it while pregnant. whatever you do passes to the baby, no matter what it is, rule of thumb, if you wouldn't feed it to your newborn, don't do it while pregnant, because that's the same thing. No judgement on the ones who do it, but you need to know fact from fiction, and ask multiple doctors, not online research, anything online can be made up, and talk to a few social services agencies.

I quit cigarettes a couple of months before I got pregnant so that one was easy.. I still smoke bud as it helps with the sickness. Seriously I wake up everymorning puking as soon as I open my eyes, roll a little one skin, force myself to smoke it and I feel great. If I dont im in bed all day dying. I have a 21 month old and am doing my driving lessons so I CANT be ill. Iv cut down loads apart from wen im sick. Im 23 now have smoked bud regular since I was 14. Did the same wit my first pregnancy

I was smoking buds up until three months but the hospital was drug testing me and it kept coming out positive and they told me I could have my child taken away and I could have cps problems and all that stuff. I am glad I stopped though I wouldn't have stopped if they weren't ganna take baby but I really am glad I did. Ultimately it's mothers decision and no one can tell you what to or what not to do with your child.

I personally stopped shortly after I found out I was preggers. I didn't want to go through all that crap and id rather not have it on my record. I want a good future for my child and from seeing things like this from other family members it is extremely hard to get a job with a drug charge. It's sad that a medical plant in some states is a crime in others.

It actually depends where you live and the level of "crime" marijuana is placed. Like where its legal of course they actually do prescribe it for morning sickness and recommend using a vapor cuz the smoke(not the pot) is harmful. Now somewhere where you get pulled over and have a baggy on you and get arrested, that's different. Your baby can get taken away because its illegal. But you're right, they usually just make a visit at your home(whether youre home or not, they have a legal search warrant at that point) and if they find any pot or pipes then you'll go through hell trying to get your child back. You'll have basically probation, have to pass a few pee tests at random, prove you're trying to be a "better" parent, etc.

Too each it's own, personally I wouldn't smoke with my baby. Not worth the risk, but if the doctor say it's fine then...okay

Well that's what my OB told me. I did quite a bit of research as well. Plus it's a little bit different in Texas. My cousin smoked her entire pregnancy and her baby was perfectly healthy. Just saying.
