27 weeks pregnant with twins? c section or natural labor?

Haven't really talked to my obgyn about my delivery options, he just keeps telling me that we will see. I'm due 2/14/12 but there is a possibility that I'm early. I definitely want to get back in shape asap after I give birth. I've herd that with vaginal delivery you definitely lose weight faster after birth but I'd be scared for an epidural, even if I deliver 1 naturally there is still a possibility that the other will be a c section. Or if I just go with a c section that would be faster but recovery would be a little harder. What are some pros and cons?? Any advice?? This is my first pregnancy and I'm expecting twins.

I didn't get stretch marks until I was around 26 weeks. They reared their ugly head then! I just lotioned a lot! I can't remember the name of the lotion, but it's for pregnancy stretch marks. I used it all during my pregnancy & afterwards too. 11 months after delivery, I still have stretch marks, but they have faded in color & actually not as crazy looking as I thought!

I have almost 11 month old b/g twins (my original due date was 2/14/11!) & I had them at 32 weeks 4 days on December 24, 2010. For me personally, I decided to go with a c-section for a few reasons (and one reason people may think is a bit ridiculous!)...the biggest thing was I was quite honestly scared of pushing two babies out. I didn't want to tear, I didn't want anything crazy like that to happen (and I'm probably being over dramatic about it, but that was my fear!) and two I also thought of the scenario that what if twin "a" was head down and I delivered normally, then twin "b" never turned & they'd end up doing a c-section because she was in distress. So, I just skipped all that & opted for a c-section from the get go. Which oddly enough, twin "a" (my son) was head down, but twin "b" (my daughter) never flipped and stayed transverse until she was delivered!

For my own personal experience, I was pleased with how everything came about. Because we were visiting family out of town when I went into labor, I had no doctors I was familiar with, but I felt very comfy where I was (staff was excellent as were the on call doctors). My recovery was amazing. I didn't have any external stitches. They used surgical glue & the butterfly tape. I wasn't allowed to do any stair climbing, heavy lifting or driving for 2 weeks, but after that I was given al all clear. As far as working out or wanting to lose the weight, I was a little lazy in that area. I gained 40 lbs and did lose it all, but my belly was stretched out and I finally got off my bum & wound up losing about 12 additional pounds.

On the flip side of the c-section, I have met several moms of twins who did vaginal delivery & they loved it. Each person has the right to chose their own birth plan & have an amazing experience. Good luck with it all!
