6 weeks pregnant with twins advice needed please

hi all

have been for a yesterday as i have been getting bad pains and passing some blood.  much to my surprise they found 2 sacs there.  there was no heartbeats but they only measured at 4-5 weeks.  i have to go back in 10 days for another scan to see if they can find heartbeats.  i am really concerned that when i go back for my next scan that the babies wont have a heartbeat.  has anyone else been through similar to help put my mind at rest.  any advise appreciated xx

I got pregnant after a MC. I wasn't sure of the dates but it was 8 weeks since the bleeding stopped. I started spotting and went to get scanned. They found two sacs (like black holes). They told me I had got pregnant with twins but it was likely I was miscarrying and I had to go back a week later to see if they had grown. Just like you!!

I did have a feeling I was about 5 weeks but they insisted on going on the LMP. Two sacs was just about what you would see at 5 weeks (the US tech told me) I remained hopeful and when we returned after a stressful week later they had grown!!!

They were 3mm each and I was able to view the heartbeats. I was dated at 6W3D (my scan should be somewhere near the beginning of my pics)
After this I decided that no matter what I would never fear the worst for my little beans.

Hang in there, I'll have my fingers crossed for you x

If it helps as well, I remember early pregnancy being very crampy and painful, something I wasn't prepared for but the girls on here got me through it.

thanks for your replies :)

i am not really sure on my dates at all as this pregnancy wasnt planned so didnt think about dates and stuff until the day i woke up and thought i may be pregnant.  i have heard that its common to bleed with multiple pregnancies in particular.  i only have to wait till monday now which seems along way away.  i have never had anything like this in my previous pregnancies so was getting worried. i will let you all know how i get on.  good luck to you all :) xxxx

I am also 6 weeks along and yesterday we heard the heartbeat of both babies. One is measuring 6 weeks and the other is a little behind at 5 weeks along. Apparently I released two eggs during ovulation and conceived a week apart. Its RARE but it happens!!! I wouldnt worry about hearing the hearbeat yet, maybe your dates are off and your not as far along as you thought you were. One week prior there was no heartbeat from either of the babies and it's amazing how much changes in a short period of time.

I have also heard it is normal to bleed a bit during early pregnancy as long as it is not enough to fill a pad. If it gets to that point I would definitely see your OB and have another u/s. Good luck and I hope everything works out for you!!

they can't always hear the heartbeat that early, especially if they only measure 4-5 weeks.

bleeding isn't all that uncommon in early pregnancy either, I am experiencing some myself (I am six weeks also), I have an MRI scan tomorrow as it appears low progesterone is my issue.

all I'm trying to say is that there are a million reasons for the bleeding, not neccessarily related to the heartbeats that it may be too early to hear, not always leading to bad news either.... all we can do is look after ourselves well, and pray.

congratulations on your twins, I hope it works out for you.
