Bed Rest

Today I have been put on bedrest at 34 weeks with twins. My doctor indicated that I probably will not make 38 weeks. She said we are shooting for 2-3 weeks before the twins are born. I wasn't expecting to hear this because I still have so much to do. Thank God I have a supporting and loving husband who's willing to do a lot of things the house. Have anyone delivered their twins around 36 or 37 weeks with no problems? Also, how much did they weigh?

I was put on bed rest at 28 weeks and was given the steroid shot for lung development at that time because I was in pre term labor.  I had a c section at 36 weeks and all was well, They babies spent NO time in the NICU.  They did have great difficulty learning to nurse and I was told the sucking reflex is the last "skill" they learn in the womb.  So, we had to do bottles and I pumped for a few months.  Enjoy your bed rest!  I never thought I would miss it...but, there are days that I long to lay in the bed all day!  HA!
Oh--Twin A weighed 6 lb. and Twin B weighed 4 lb. 15 oz.

My twins were born 1 day short of 38wks. I was scheduled for induction 4 days later. Both wre head down since 25wks of prego so we were expecting vag del. they were both in thier own sac. I was in hosp for 8 days then on bed rest since I was 1cm dilated. I had all the shots incase I had an early delivery. Had to have c-sec due to one baby's heart rate dropping with every time I pushed. weights were 5.4 and 5.1 and both were 17in long. They came home with me after 3 nights at hosp.
dont worry about all the things you have to do, they will get done. take care of yourself and babies. the longer they stay inside the better for all. take care and enjoy the rest.

I delivered my twins on June 30th ( they were due August 25th) so exactly 8 weeks early.  They could breathe on their own and did very well.  The only problem they had was to drink on their own.  They had to be fed through a gavage tube through their nose directly into their stomachs until they could drink enough milk on their own.... One got an bacterial infection in the hospital, and that set her back a few days.  All in all, they were very healthy, but it took 4 weeks in the hospital before I could bring them home.

The book I have says that twins develop much faster than singles (probably because of their tendency to come early). It said that most twins are fully developed at about 35wks So 36 or 37 would be fine. My doctor wants me to make it to 36wks and will deliver any time after that. Good luck! Be thankful you only have two weeks of bed rest as some endure months.

36-37 weeks is considered full term for twins. They should do fine.
