could it be twins

Hi i am 8 1/2 weeks pregnant with my 6th pregnancy, my midwife said to me i might be having twins because the pregnancy test i done the day i was due on came up really dark and quick, this has never happened in my other pregnancy and always tested in morning but as i said privious pregnancy that i have done tests with have all been faint lines done in the morning to. so why such a dark and quick this time? i think it's strange.
my clothes are not fitting very well either and look bigger for my dates but not had scan yet and not further on as the month before i fell pregnant came up negative, also my tummy isn't bloated it's quit firm. What do you think?

i had an emergency u/s done when i was 9 weeks (my appointment wasn't scheduled till 13 weeks) and they found 2 little hearts beating.

Do twins run in your family? I was about the same position with how I felt but these are my first. I had kind of a strange thing happen to me when we found out we were pregnant. HPT never worked on me. The last time I found out I was pregnant it is because I had gone to hospital for a thought of a kidney infection. I had slept for two days straight pretty much and had severe back pain. We had tried home tests cause I just didn't feel right and they said negative all 5 times. When I went to hospital they informed me that I was pregnant and by calculations should have been about 3.5 months along. I didn't know because I have PCOS and skip periods a lot. Not a professional but I would say could be... but also could it be that you show a little better with this being round six? Am wondering because I know that the more you have the more stretched things become and the more you show right away. Good luck finding out though. I was so shocked when they did my ultrasound at 9 weeks to find out we were having a natural set of twins!! I'm excited but scared too!! Best of luck to you!
