twins but only one heartbeat

Hi all. I had a scan 3 weeks ago which confirmed I was carrying twins. They were both measuring 6+3 and both had heartbeats. Went for first hospital app yesterday and scan showed twin 2 was measuring 10+4 with heartbeat and twin 1 was measuring 8 weeks without heartbeat. I haven't had any bleeding. Don't know what to expect from now on. Will I bleed and miscarry twin 1? Need some advice x

No, you probably won't.  When I had a vanished twin, I could see it in the ultrasounds for a while, and then it got reabsorbed by the body.  A sad thing, I am sorry.  Finding out about a vanished twin is like going to a birthday and a funeral in the same room; (you have a healthy baby, yay!  You have a baby that faded, oh no!)  Anyway, probably no bleeding or passing, probably just reabsorbtion.  Sometimes the placenta is passed when the other baby is born.
