Trying to conceive

I have a misicarriage in July resulting in a D&C. I was 3months along but through an ultrasound we found that my fetus was only 8 weeks in size. I had one just like it about 10 years ago. i was 16 weeks and the fetus was 12 weeks. We are now trying to get pregnant again and they are concerned that my progogesterine levels may be low. Can this cause a miscarriage of this nature? What should we do yo ensure that we get pregnant again sometime soon?

Hello,

Progesterone use to prevent miscarriage is a common practice, but one not supported by scientific research.  I would remind you that miscarriages are common, and I would encourage you to see your ob/gyn to discuss these issues before beginning attempts at conception.

Best regards,

Dr. Downing
