At me pediatrician s office they have you hold down the arms and upper body while they give the needles in the legs. As soon as they are done you pick baby up and they usually stop crying in a minute. Talk to the baby the whole time
I took my mom with me and she was the one helping the nurse out with my daughter and she ended up crying with her. It might help if you take someone with you for support. You can also buy her some pediacare and when you get there her pediatrician can tell you how much to give her!
I hope that's her outcome this is my first I never went in the room with my baby siblings. I don't know how things are done here
Pediacare is that the baby juice I see advertised I didn't think they could have it this young
I gave my son Tylenol before the appointment so it was already in his system. He cried but was comforted pretty easily when I picked him up. Warm bath later helps too so they don't get as sore.
Omg, my little one gets his next week as well :( I don't think I'll be able to handle it.
How much Tylenol is it true they get headache/fever aide effects
My son did great he cryed but after it was done he stopped, I go back in a week for his 4th month
A good trick is (my daughter is 8 months) is to take a piece of paper and shake it all crazy after their shots. It'll distract from the stinging of the shot. One of the nurses did that for my kiddo and she stopped crying.
I like that trick I'm going to try it
I hope it works! My daughter laughs when we waive it around all crazy
I just gave him the dose for his weight on the Tylenol.
Honestly they are gonna get shots throuhh their whole life my son had jaundice and had to get his blood drawn like twice a week and they did make me hold him down i felt like he was thinkinh it was me hurting him but as soon as they are done u can pick them up and talking to my boy helped distract him or id tickle his other foot they werent taking blood from so it was at least like i wasnt the ne hurting him.
And yes they can have pedialite at that age...just ask your doctor how much to give them its usually just to help with colds or diareha
You're talking about pedialyte. Pediacare is basically tylenol for 0-36 months.
How the mother reacts to shots will impact the child through out it's childhood.
Mothers need to be calm, and collected and not scream at the nurse or cry.
Really.
Gather yourselves together, mothers. It's not like your child is being murdered - the child is being helped with a vaccination. It's a little tiny pin prick, followed by a little bit of soreness.
Your fearful reaction can scar your child for life and make them as fearful as you are.
I read recently on this board, that a mother brought those birthday party blowers that unwind when you blow them. Do that when your toddler has shots, and encourage them to blow them.
For your infant, remain calm, and sweet, and comfort your baby.
