Bacteria Vaginosis??

Last friday I was having pain in my sides where my kidneys are. My bladder would cramp really bad after emptying it. I decided to go see a Dr. so I went to my PCP. Which is a new Dr I've never seen and a whole nother story in of it's self.

He diagnosed me with an Upper UTI and Lower UTI. He put me on antibiotics and told me that I probably also have Bacterium Vaginosis which I promptly googled when I got home on monday.

I went back today for my follow up and had another UA done and the UTI was clearing up but one of the levels had increased. I'm not sure what it was. So I did indeed have BV and that I needed to see my Gyno.

The problem with that is my insurance ends on the 30th. I figured that it would take about 2 weeks to get an apt.
I called and explained my situation to the receptionist which I love!  She put me on hold and then came back with 10:30 am TOMORROW!!!  On a SATURDAY!!  I guess Dr is going out of town at end of next week.  They are going to squeeze me in.

My PCP thinks that the BV is due to the DNC and my hormones being off since the m/c.  He just wants my Gyno to make sure nothing else is off since I had the DNC.

I really hope that nothing else is wrong

Question is Has anyone else had BV and know anything else about it or how they treat it.  I would like to know what to expect when I go to the Dr.

I went to my Gyno today and he says that he doesn't think I have BV but a yeast infection since he took a swab and looked under the microscope.  He did like 5 swabs and a pap and I will get the results on the cultures on Tuesday. I am really hoping that everything is fine!

they didn't do an ultrasound after DNC. I haven't had sex since the night before I found out that I had a missed m/c so it's been over 2 1/2 months!  I'm pretty sure I don't have a yeast infection it doesn't itch at all.  Just a lot of discharge. EWWW

I suspect it's due to the hormone imbalance.

Yes, I just had a yeast infection with BV. It is really easy to treat. They gave me a cream and some diflucan. I usually take the diflucan for yeast infections, I am allergic to most of the yeast infection creams, so I am assuming the cream was for the BV. It was called Clandestine. It was just one insert of cream. Most of symptoms were better within 24 hours and by 48, I was feeling almost a 100% better. It usually takes 7 days. They will more than likely ask you not to take baths and no sex until cleared up. This will prevent a reoccurance.  FYI, I had a D&C in early March, but I am currently 10 wks and 5 days preggo again. I think mine was just caused by the imbalance of PH in vaginal canal when preggo though. They may go ahead and do an ultrasound if they did not do one after the D&C to verify that all contents were removed properly.

BV is basically your bodies way of telling you your hormones are out of wack and the pH "down there" is off.  They can treat you with Flagyl (pills) or they will prescribe metronizadole cream to insert before bed.  The pills are HORRIBLE!!!  They leave a disgusting metallic taste in your mouth.  The cream is soooo much better and it isn't messy.  Try to drink plenty of water.  Sperm can cause your pH to be off even if you're TTC.   I hope this helps.
