Caffeine while pregnant

I will be 39 weeks pregnant tomorrow, and am still working, and am finding that I can't stay awake all day without a bottle of a caffeinated beverage during the day.  Is one bottle of a soda bad?  I don't want to hurt this baby in me, but man, I can't stay awake at this point.

I was told that you can have 2 caffeinated beverages a day. I would watch out for mountain dew though because out of all sodas I believe that one has the most caffeine.

Usually one can of soda has 35mg of caffiene I know MT Dew is a higher but not insanely! So, I would think one 20 oz bottle would be 100 or less! Enjoy that soda girl!

The bottles don't always list the caffeine amounts.  According to the official Mt Dew website there are 36 mg of caffeine per 8 oz.  So a 20 oz bottle would have 90 mg of caffeine.

I have drank 1 to 2 of the 20 oz bottles of mt. dew almost every day since becoming pregnant with no issues thus far.. I drank caffeine with al my pregnancies.  As long as you aren't going overboard it will be fine.

Thanks guys!  Now I just have to look at the next bottle I get to see how much is in a bottle of Mt. Dew.  I'm guessing it's below 200 mg?

I have had one small cup of coffee in the AM my entire preganncy.  All of the ladies are right about the 200-300 mgs.  I was a big coffee drinker before pregnancy (2-3 cups per day). I tried to cut it out cold turkey, but it gave me the worst migranes and made me feel worse in the first trimester.  My doctor actually recommended I have a small cup and assured me it was safe.  Soda I have never been a fan, but once in a great while an ice cold cherry coke is the best =)
You are so close not too much longer!!!

studies have shown that up to 200 mg of caffiene per day is considered a safe amount during pregnancy.

I'm definitely only doing 1 caffeinated bevarage a day, and it's usually a 20oz Coke or Mt. Dew. I've just never been tired my WHOLE life! In hindsight, I should have stopped working already, but I haven't, so I'm just trying to get through the rest of the week without falling asleep at my desk.  So unfortunately, have had to resort to a bottle of soda.

actually it's the reverse of that but yeah it's safe...it's 2 cups of coffee, 3 at max, or quite a few sodas...less than 300mg is the accepted quantity for safe caffeine consumption while pregnant. I had to beg for a caffeinated drink this morning they kept trying to bring me caffeine free coke in the hospital I was like...why bother? LOL. I mean yes I have tachycardia but after so many years of caffeine consumption it doesn't affect my heart rate. TRUST me...they monitored it "just to be sure". bleah. no you're fine especially if it's just a bottle a day :). obviously something better to stay away from whenever possible but I have a soda every morning just to be able to wake up so I understand.

from what i've looked up online a couple cups of coffee or a bottle of soda a day doesnt hurt anything. they usually tell u to stay completely away from in the first trimester as thats the most crucial development, but my best friends OB told her when she got to her 2nd trimester that it was fine in small moderation
