Could I got have gotten preg on 10/17.

I was raped on 10/17/08. My husband and I have been trying to have a baby. I have had unprotected sex with my husband since then. I found out on 11/25/08 that I was 5 weeks preg. I had an u/s done and my Dr said that I was just 5 wks by the measurements of my sac. So if I go back 5 weeks from 11/25, that brings us to 10/21. Does that mean thats the date I conceived? My gut feeling is i'm prego by my husband, but I'm so nervous. I just want to know what do you think?

Hi!
You have generated a lot of interest in your story!  I too am horrified at what happened to you and hope you have taken appropriate actions.  Most importantly, I hope you are going to follow up with counseling, as you are very definitely going to have some issues t work through. And my thoughts and prayers are with you as you do!
It is possible to obtain amniocytes (fetal cells) from an amniocentesis and to have a DNA analysis done.  A match with your husband would confirm paternity.  I would suggest you see a perinatologist to discuss when and how this could be arranged if you wanted to pursue it.  I don't know whether you would terminate; many would in this type of a situation.

A five week ultrasound should be accurate within 3-4 days, but that is so close that I don't think you can be 100% certain as to paternity based on your dates. I do give a lot strength to your "gut" for what that's worth!

Your case is complicated enough that I would really encourage you to sit down with a perinatologist ( and your husband too of course) and discuss the risks and benefits, pros and cons, cost, etc of determining paternity before the birth. I would suspect that if you do successfully prosecute the perpetrator you could sue for the cost of any procedures.

Hope this is helpful!

The number of weeks noted on the ultrasound is menstrual weeks, i.e. the number of weeks from the first day of your last period (not the missed period, the last period).

So usually, the actual date of conception is about two weeks less than the number of weeks that the ultrasound shows. But this can vary widely from one woman to another.

So on average, if the ultrasound measurement was exactly 5 weeks (usually told to you as "5+0" or "5 weeks and no days") on 11/25, then the actual fetal age is 3 weeks. So your conception date would be closer to 11/4.

So, if you conceived from the rape on 10/17, then by 11/25 the menstrual age would be 52 days, or 7 weeks and 3 days. 7+3 versus 5+0 is distinctly different on the ultrasound.
