Doula: is it worth it?

My breast feeding instructor suggested I get one and I'm not so sure... is it worth getting one? How do they really benefit labor?

I think its worth it...they just help stand up for ur needs wishes and rights during a stressful confusing painful..all be it wonderful time..when all u need 2 worry about is u and ur baby..not dealing with anything els..u tell ur doula what ur wishes are and what ur birth plan is and what ur comfortable with...and she basicly is ur advocate 2 the drs. During labor..unfourtunatly some drs rnt respectful of ur needs or wishes and just wany 2 do whats easiest for them.. and do stuff thats not necessarily needed..that u dont want..but pray on u bejng worried for ur baby...doulas r trained 2.kno what is absolutely needed.and not..and makke sure u r respected and listened 2 as much as possible

Honestly, I have one a she is very helpful. If you can't reach your midwife/doctor, your doula will be there, they answer any questions you have and help you with post pardum. I say try it out, the more support you have the better it will be
