Is it true they test babies for drugs after birth???

First it depends on what state you are in. I know in kansas even if you are on a medical card they do not unless they suspect drug abuse. Even more if they are using their findings for criminal procedure i.e. cps or criminal charges they have you sign documents stating that is what you are doing. You have to sign these documents because of doctor-patient confidentility and if you dont sign them tgen they probably wont let you leave the hospital. You need to do your own research on this subject because everyone can only tell you their own experience or opinion. From what i see anyways. With all the contradicting statements and all.

Depends, most do if your on Medicaid and some it's routine to test all baby's, and some just test if baby shows signs of withdraw.

I hope they do because its not healthy for the newborn. And everyone is just stating their opinion

Probably a good idea to not use illegal drugs while you're pregnant, or after got that matter considering they could use that as proof of finding an individual unfit

Yea in Colorado they took my baby's poop than put this lil bag on her to catch her pee.

In my state all hospitals drug test the baby, birthing centers do not. I live in Oregon.

Why are there all these questions about whether or not they drug test?  What is everyone so worried about?

It depends on where you stay really . From what i can gather from previous posts asking the same question, some states do mandatory drug testing, others only do it if there is reason to. Here in the UK, they only do it if mother is a known drug user or if they have reason to suspect drug use. If you are taking drugs whilst pregnant, i hope you live in a state where its mandatory

Yes most if not all hospitals these days do drug tests on baby and momma.

True. for me at least. they came in my room the day after my baby was born and went thru the trash to get her poopy diaper to test it.

In many places yes they do. Particuarly if they have reason to suspect drug use, or if you are on medicaid. It is routine in most hospitals though.
