With my 1st it was about 16 weeks before others could say that I was showing. With this 1 I would say 12 weeks.
I started out pretty thin with both of my pregnancies and had to switch to a bigger size of clothes at 6-8 weeks and then maternity clothes at around 12 weeks or so because mine were too tight around the hips and waist. But, if I wore loose clothes people didn't really notice until several weeks later or if I was wearing tighter clothes they could tell. I am 19 weeks with my 2nd baby and have to wear maternity pants and looser tops because my boobs are now too big for my regular tops even though some still fit over my belly. I don't remember exactly when my belly got hard with my first pregnancy, but it's not hard yet with this one...probably happened sometime 30+ weeks. But, everyone is different - some girls hardly look pregnant by the time they deliver, so you just never know how your body is going to be. The important thing is how the baby is growing and making sure you are doing everything you can to provide the baby with a nurturing environment - taking your prenatals and all that good stuff. Good luck to you!
You normally can feel it, or the doctor can feel it. I could always tell where mine was, but in early pregnancy it might be slightly more difficult. Until around the second trimester though it won't have moved anywhere the really feel it anyways.
ok how do you know if your uterus has risen or not?
I personally didn't notice that until much later in pregnancy. It doesn't properly get 'hard' unless you're having a contraction. Like I could suck in and stuff till the day I delivered. (I didn't show until I was 7 months pregnant) It was always a little more firm from like 16 weeks on, but it was never really rock hard. I don't think you'll even start to notice that until you're at least 12 weeks since the uterus doesn't rise from the pelvis until then.
well what about the hardening of your tummy when did you notice that
I didn't start to show until 20 weeks but it wasn't until 22 weeks that people were confident enough to ask. Everyone is different as long as the baby is growing everything is fine :)
It is so different for everyone. For me you can tell that I am pregnant and have to wear maternity clothes by the time I am 12 wks, with all pregnancies. My sister wore a tight wedding dress when she was 5 months and you couldn't even tell. We are about the same build too, she is a little taller and a little thinner than I but not much. Everyone is very different. This pregnancy I actually started wearing maternity clothes by the time I was 9 wks because my pants were uncomfortable even though I wasn't really "showing." We all gain differently and so don't worry too much about this. Ask your Dr if you are gaining about where they would like and see what they say.
