HELLP syndrome

HELLP syndrome runs in my dad's family(his mom, my aunt, and both her daughter's who were 23 and 26). My doctor said I don't have to worry and doesn't think I need to be tested since I'm only 24. I'm scared I'm going to end up like my cousin who's doctor said the same thing and had to go into emergency C section 3 moths early to save the baby. Does anyone else have a family history of HELLP that can help me?

Thanks that puts me at ease a little. My family keeps asking if I'm getting tested and my doctor tells me I don't need to be tested so it's been crazy.

I have heard its more likely if your mother or sister have had it, however I have no family history of complications and have had preeclamplsia twice now. There are lots of other risk factors but really HELLP syndrome and preeclamplsia can just happen and its really only in the last 20yrs that they've started to look at causes and treatments. I would try not to stress and keep in kind that it would be unlikely just based on paternal family history however become familiar with the symptoms and let your dr know if you think you are developing it.
