I need advice~

I dont have a period. I havent for years. Im 23 years old and I have regular periods when I am on the pill only. I have never had a child but I have recently had an IUD (mirena) removed on 06/04/2010. Im trying to get pregnant but I am a little concerned that I will not be able to because I have poly cyctic ovarian disease and I havent gotten a period to ovulate. I just need to know what I should do to try and become a mother for the first time.

Hi!
If you were my patient, I would check out a few hormone levels, including your thyroid and prolactin levels. If everything did indeed point to PCOS, I would recommend Metformin and Femara to help you ovulate.  Often we do start with Provera as Tah8307 suggests--this has the effect of cleaning any old build up out of the uterus so that there won't be heavy or irregular bleeding when the periods do start.

I don't know if you are overweight, but if so, losing only 10% of your body weight can really help, and will also improve your fertility and pregnancy outcomes.

Good luck!

Thank you all so much. I will be going to the doctor on the 30th and I will let her know that I would like to be on a fertility drug if the labs come back normal. Yeah, I am overweight but since the IUD was removed, I have lost 15 pounds. I need to loose a little more cause I know I will gain when I get pregnant. Thanks again guys! =]
