Hi ,

I found out about a week ago (form a early scan) than i'm expecting twins !
there is a history of twins only one thou on my boyfriends side, he already has a child,
so how come were expecting twins now? thought it would just be one. . . and i heard that i'm going to have more tests and scans than you would with one baby? is this true? and could you tell me more about this?

I have exactly the same senerio going on. My boyfriend has one set of twins in his family. His first child was only a single. Now i am pregnant with twins! And i have no twins on my side, so a complete shock! Wondering if every thing has gone well with you?

i'm 8 weeks and 4 days today , mine are in the same sack, so they are going be indentical , i saw the fetuses at 7 weeks and there heart beats ? but when i was at the hospital another women had the same problem as you ? . . .

how far along r u? And when did u c the babys heart beats or fetuses. Im preg with twins also. I had sex with my husbnd july 10th. I had a vaginal us on 8-5 to find 2 sacs but no fetuses or hbeats the dac was very weird. She had me do hcgs that came back as 19,463 and i will have them done again in 1 wk which is 2mrw. And my next us is wedns. Hopefully i c babys and heart beats. Very curious to when u frst seen urs or if u didnt yet. TY Angel DAvis

People conceive twins if two ovums are released from the ovary at ovulation. Or if a fertilized egg splits into two separate babies. It doesn't necessarily have to be hereditary in order to conceive twins.

They usually do more sonograms with twins because in some cases, a twin can die very early on (Vanishing Twin Syndrome). Or one twin will take all the nutrients from the mother, causing the other twin to not gain as much weight. So they just want to closely monitor you to make sure both babies are healthy. A multiple pregnancy is considered high risk.
