I love that u want 2 make sacrifice for ur baby. As u might of figured, because of my nick name on this site, I do have certain beliefs but in some cases I go against my Catholic beliefs. So I don't like abortion. When iread the title to ur
Question I thought maybe abortion was what would have to happen. As I read further. U r not grossly overweight and it sounds like u want 2 have this baby. Don't try any major workouts or unsafe dieting. Just try light exercise an try to just be generally healthy. And u and ur baby should be happy:)
Hi!
Congratulations!
If you were my patient, I would advise you not to TRY to lose weight.
If you did lose some weight I would not be overly concerned. ALSO--it is not necessary to gain--you can let the baby take the excess weight from you it that can happen naturally. Just eat healthy, exercise regularly and don't gain. Your baby should be just fine!
Good luck!

I would try to avoid sugar, and high fructose corn syrup at all costs. I found having a diet high in protein helps curb sugar cravings. Before the arctic air came in, I would walk and ride my bike to my appointments. Now I swim because if I walk long distances, my pelvis feels like it's falling apart. You don't want to lose weight, but you don't want to eat a lot of high energy foods like sugar and simple carbs, because your body can use what you have stored, but you want to get your necessary nutrition.
Just exercise & eat right. I have a friend who was over weight at start of pregnancy and she only gained 18 lbs total. Her baby was almost 9 lbs. Every woman is different.
Best advice (regardless of pre-pregnancy weight) is to stay active i. e. walking, biking, jogging, or yoga. Walking is something easy to do that takes no negative toll on your body unless advised otherwise by your doctor. And more importantly than that is your diet. Do not take "eating for two" too seriously. Make sure you are getting all the food groups correctly and lots of water. Avoid high sugar intake so you'll have less chance of dealing with gestational diabetes. Your body is most likely to do what is right given the correct tools so don't stress so much.
I am 5'2 and 240, the best thing to do is talk to your doctor and set a goal for accepable weight gain and walking at least everyother day and even parking further away from the front of stores are a huge help as far as safe pregnancy exercise.
This would not be a good time to start an intensive exercice regime. The best for you and the baby is to eat healthy (see the Canadian food guide) and try to do light walking three times a week.
Hunny you are not extreamly over weight so dont worry... im 5`4 and i looked healthy befor i found iut i was pregnant and weighed 185
