I was on the shot for 7 years and went to my ob/gyn and asked her how long I would have to be off the needle if I wanted to get pregnant.  HEr answer was at least 6-9 months and where I had been on it for so long I would probably be looking at a year or 2 of trying.  My shot was due in July and I decided not to take it with the hopes of being pregnant by Dec 2012.  Surprise I was pregnant in August and Due May 2011.  If you are not wanting to get pregnant I would make sure I got it before the 3 months were up and If you do want to get pregnant, don't be discouraged by how long they say you will be off it before you concieve, it is not necessarily the case!

yes u can get pregnant the day the shot runs out although there are cases of infertility for up to a year after u get off the shot

Yes!  The depo shot has about a 2 week margin of error, so typically women don't conceive for at least two weeks after the end of their third month (I hope that makes sense!) BUT I have seen everything so don't take any chances!
