Hi everyone i took a pregnancy test which was generic "Sure-Aid"..and a pink line came in the control window and and 20 min later a light faint line came up at the bottom...what to do? is this an evaporating line or could i be preggers? Should i get another one and the box said not to read results after 10 min????

Hi Marquette404

I hope that if you are trying to conceive that it is the answer you are looking for however, this sounds very much like an evaporation line.  This is one of the reasons the tests do say do not read after 10 minutes for an accurate answer because the is the possibility of reading an evaporation line.  The best suggestion (other than asking for a beta hCG blood test) I usually offer is to purchase a digital HPT.  These do not have evaporation lines and are really good.  The other thing to keep in mind is that pregnancy tests can have defects, while not typical or usual it can happen.  When I saw what I thought were positive lines when I was trying to conceive, I retested the next morning with First Morning Urine.  Although most HPT's say you can test any time of day, the more water you consume, the less concentrated your urine will be.  And typically FMU is the most concentrated for most women so long as you have had more than 4 hours of sleep.
I would say retest the next morning or even a few days later.  Depending on how many days you are past ovulation, is also an indicator of how strong that positive line should be.  The earlier you test the lighter the test line will be.  If you wait, the line will get darker as more hCG hormone builds up in your body.
I wish you the best of luck and hope you get the answer you are hoping for.  I personally know how frustrating trying can be if this is what you are in the process of.  I also know how frustrating pregnancy tests can be... and you are not crazy - they are not often as straight forward when it comes to early testing.
Good luck, and if you have any other questions that I can help you with, please feel free to message me directly.

Sincerely,

You might get false positive results after 10 minutes...so i would suggest you buy another kit and do the test again ...good luck :)
