6 wks ultrasound showed multiple dark holes- HELP

I had my ultrasound yesterday at 6 weeks completion. We saw multiple (3-4) small dark holes. One of them was bigger than the others though. My doc said the baby isn't developing and wants to do another ultrasound next week and then do a D&C. I am very scared and depressed hearing this. Please help by giving me some advice on what I should do. Can I still see a baby next week? I've read about cases online who don't see anything at 6 wks but see the baby next week or so. But in my case there are multiple dots..what would they mean/suggest? PLEASE HELP!!

Thank you so much for your reply. We had been trying for over a year for this (first) pregnancy. Do you think this means that I CAN ACTUALLY get pregnant and there are no fertility issues involved?  Thank you very much for the reply..

u can go to the same doc and get an U/S again to see if there is any change..in the mean time,u may wanna see another doc for second opinion..

this way u would make sure the diagnosis is correct.

6weeks is so early.if u don't want D&C ,u can just wait for ur body to initate the MC process...

good luck

yes that's what I thought too. But the doc doesn't suggest so, infact she just wants to go ahead with a D&C! I think I should still wait though before jumping it something like that..

Hi!
I'm sorry to hear that your ultrasound wasn't normal.  A couple of things:
yes, there is a possibility that things could change by the next scan, but I think you must prepare yourself for the possibility that they will stay the same.
I think you may be on the right track with your thoughts about a molar pregnancy, as this type of pregnancy would give this appearance on ultrasound.
The high HCG levels are also consistent.

If you were my patient, I would recommend a D&C and ASAP.  Molar pregnancies are uncommon, but usually not dangerous if you follow your doctor's instructions carefully.

The most probable outcome, if the pathology report from the D&C confirms molar pregnancy, is that your doctor will recommend following your HCG levels closely until they reach zero, and then for a period of time (usually 6 months or so) thereafter.

As long as your hormone levels drop and remain negative, you will be able to conceive again soon, and most likely with better results next time!

Good luck!
