9 pounds seems like a lot, but are you throwing up? Or is the weight just disappearing? I lost 25 lbs but my starting weight was 140. Gotta love morning sickness for 3 months. That was scary for me, but the doctors weren't concerned for the baby because I was still hydrated and keeping some food down. I did however lose almost all of my muscle (well it looks like it) and felt horrible. I'm sure you'll be fine though because you're starting off with more reserves for your own body, plus the baby. At 140 I thought I had enough reserves, but apparently not, and though my morning sickness has been gone for weeks, my baby is still waging war on my food intake/frequency!
When I was pregnant 6 years ago, when I found out I was pregnant, I lost 5 pounds.
I didn't even have any vomiting. Only had 6 weeks of nausea and that was it.
So yes it's possible to lose a few pounds. And like the other posters said, as long as it's not a dangerous amount and you eat healthy, it's nothing to worry about
If you start a pregnancy with extra weight, it's often common to lose some. We tend to start paying closer attention to our diets and eating better and taking overall better care of ourselves during pregnancy. Some women lose weight just from being sick in the beginning as well. Your Dr. will monitor the baby and will let you know if there are any concerns with fetal growth.
It's ok to lose a little weight. But, normally your doctor will let you know if your hitting the danger zone. I have morning sickness. I started out this pregnancy at 146 now weigh 140 I'm not worried. I always lose weight due to morning sickness.
In my first pregnancy ( I didn't know about it until 22 weeks ) I was actually anorexic and still in size 4 clothes, might be size 0 if you're in the US, I gained nothing and lost A LOT I weighed 5stone I think that's 80-something pounds? Unfortunately I couldn't carry on with that pregnancy both me and my daughter were seriously ill and both of us could have died. But as long as the weight loss isn't drastic, and you're eating right still then don't worry too much, your doctor will raise any concerns they have in every apt with weight, and if you have any concerns raise them yourself, just eat right, also, make sure (if you can) drink at least 2 glasses of milk a day. its what my doc' told me, but then again, I was pregnant with an eating disorder now I have a 10 month old trouble maker. :) good luck.
Yes its normal to loose weight ! My Obgyn said as long as I wasn't throwing up nutrients it was okay !
