Possibly pregnant

I am a 23 year old woman who has recently stopped taking ortho-tricyclen. I currently have a uterine fibroid in the more proximal aspect of my uterus. This does not usually cause problems and when it does, ibuprofen helps. About 2 days after stopping the pill (I stopped after taking 2 pills of my new pack) I started my period. It was a normal period for me with no problems. During the last few days of my period my husband and I had unprotected sex. After a week, I started craving certain foods and had slight cramping in the abdomen. I went to my ob/gyn a couple days later and he said that I was "bulky" on the right side of my uterus. He said I could be pregnant, have a cyst, or another fibroid. My pap smear revealed slight inflammation, but I had sex the night before the test. He schedule me for an ultra sound next week. It has been almost 2 weeks and I am still having occassional cramping and recently have started to have nausea in the early morning which resolves usually in a few hours. Could these be pregnancy symptoms? How soon can symptoms start? Is it more likely I'm pregnant or just have another fibriod?

Amanda-You can not go by your birth control and when you are supposed to Ovulate, Even though there is a slight chance you have break through Ovulation on the pill, it is mostly designed to not have a real Period or Ovualate. The Period you get is not a real one, it is what they call a Forced Bleed, the week you are off your Pills your body goes through withdrawals from the estrogen and in turn you bleed. So you really should not have been ovulating when you say you had your period and had Sex. But what im assuming happ was you got your period and was off the pill, now you are getting symptoms of ovulating and horny possibly lol. which is usually what follow after your real period, which im assuming is what you just had. I get Sore nipples bad when i ovulate, everyone is diff, you just usually do not cramp real bad like you do when you get a Period, it is more like a pulling feeling or a twing. Not everyone feels this, as for your uterus or stomach being bulky you prb have to go to the bathroom or have a bowel prob. Have you had any prob going? If so take a stool softener, or maybe you do have something else going on. But i def do not think you are preg from having sex on your AF. But i think in 2 weeks you should test because you may become preg if i am right and you are ovulating and you just had sex, that means you have a real good chance of becoming prego. So go for the sono, but you would not see anything if you got preg, you would be too early. So start taking a test two weeks from today and see how it goes. Good luck and let me know please!!!

Well, now I can't get in to the doctor till next thursday due to my work schedule. To make matters worse, last night, after sex with my husband, I had these twitches on the left side of my lower abdomen, clost to my hairline and about three inches diagonally from my belly buttom. This is the same area where my doctor said I was bulky. It twitched for most of the night and ached dully, like mild cramps. Then today, I had a little pain with a bowel movement. AND, my labia and lower area have become super sensitive, almost like when I'm "in the mood". Does anyone know what this could mean?

Technically, the time around when I had sex, I would have been ovulating. It would have been 14 days if I go by the birth control. However, I know that birth control stops ovulation. I started the new pack, week 1, on the June 19th, and stopped them on the 22nd, halfway between the new week. June 25-26 would have been the time I was ovulating. I started bleeding on the 26th (probably the 25th during the night) and had sex on the that night. Could I still have ovulated despite having withdrawal bleeding?

Pregnancy symptoms can start about 10 days after conception but some women dont feel the effects until much later.

A home pregnancy test will be accurate about 2 weeks after conception - have you taken a test?  Did your doctor run any blood work?
