MoMo pregnancy- too early to tell?

I went in today for a scan- I am 5 weeks and 5 days pregnant.  I was lightly spotting.  So RE found twins- but they are in the same sac.  Same size- 2 fetal poles and only 1 heart flutter- but it is early for that.  He said there is a chance the sac could split.  There are on opposite sides of the sac.  I was reading online and an article mentioned it could be too early to see if there is a membrane between them.  I can find info on eggs splitting but not anything on the sac splitting.  I am hoping they seperate- for safety's sake!  Have you heard of the sac splitting?  Perhaps, they split all the time but I just found out about this since I had an early scan.  Any info would be appreciated.

Hi!
Usually twins separate or don't separate very early in the game.  There is nothing that we can do to help them along, or prevent them from doing anything.  Ultrasound is going to be quite useful in determining what is eventually going to happen for you.  Often a twin is lost, or does not continue to develop.  It is early though, and your 6 and 7 week scans are going to be much more revealing. How exciting that it seems you are going to have at least one on the way!
Good luck!
