No heartbeat at 6 weeks 4 days

I went for my second ultrasound at 6 weeks 4 days and a gestational sac and yolk sac were seen, but no fetal pole or heartbeat.  My doc is optimistic and says that i have more reasons to NOT worry, than to worry.  He says this because the sac has been growing well since the previous u/s a week earlier.  BUT, he also said that if we don't see a heartbeat in a week then the pregnancy will be non-viable.  Has anyone had this happen, but then gone on to see a heartbeat at 7 weeks?

P.S. My dates are correct because I had IVF transfer

I have heard of this soooooooo many times. I don't understand why doctors even get their patients to have such early ultrasounds.....they cause soo much stress - I would not be worried. If you look around this forum - you will see how often this happens. My doc refuses to check for viability before 10 weeks which I am thankful for as my last doc put me through the same things as you last time at 6 weeks. At about 7wk 4 days there was a clear heartbeat though. It was a def week from hell that we went through. Hang in there.

I think if your doc says not to worry just yet then try your hardest not to worry. I've seen on here that this has happened to other people. It may be just a little too early for anything I think. I hope everything goes well. Are your levels going up still? Cuz that would be a good sign!
