light bleeding and clots

Iam 8 weeks pregnant and I noticed when I went to the bathroom and wiped that there was bright red blood. It wasnt heavy at all but there were about 2 or 3 small blood clots that were dark red. I have mild cramping nothing major but it has me worried. It hasn't happened since this morning.

I had that yesterday, but I had not clots. I rang my doctor and he told me to come in straight away to get checked out, im only 9w2d and he said he shouldn't even try and find a heartbeat because im so early on in my pregnancy but to my surprise and his we heard baby's heartbeat. He thinks I might have an infection so we shall see. Let us know what doctors say.
