My baby boy is here/ breast feeding

I'm so happy my baby boy is here he arrived on October 17, at 8:07 am 7lb 7oz I was 39 w 2 d His name is Ramero Ethan :) I love him so much!!!!!!!!!! But I need some breast feeding help, my milk just arrived and as you moms already know my breasts are hurting like crazy :( So my  question is how can I get them to stop hurting? Can I pump my breast right now or do I have to wait 2 weeks? My baby eats so much and with my breasts hurting like they are I don't think I can feed him, I was thinking about giving him formula until they stop hurting??? What do I do???

Def dont mix up formula and breast milk made my daughter highly constipated. There is nipple cream at walmart you can get and also try taking a hot shower (breasts facing the faucet) and it will help let the milk come down and yeah you can pump that will help too if you have milk built up that baby isnt getting out. Shower will help for sure i used to just wanna stay in the shower lol

Don't pump!!! It will make it worse. Hot showers, massage your breasts while in there. Put warm compresses on while you nurse. When you're done nursing put ice packs on your boobs. Don't add formula. Just let baby nurse when baby is hungry. Also look into the Wic program, they have lactation consultants...

Just monitor the fullness cuz you can get infections like a clogged glad and that is said to be very painful. But you should be fine after the shower and pumping.

Pumping will tell your body to produce more milk which will make it more painful. Once the engorgement goes away you can pump and be fine. That's why you shouldn't pump. Take some advil to help with pain as well.

Yes it did make it more painful and I got this tingling feeling on my nipples that comes and go away, do anyone know why? I haven't even breastfed my baby because it hurts and my nipples are so big. So if I wait until my breast go down a little is it to late to breastfeed, or do  I have to continue to try and breastfeed? I hope I don't have an clogged gland like KJ812 said! But I really want to breastfeed but it's just so painful I really need more help

If you stop all together it will just make it worse. You have to keep trying. It takes a good 2 weeks for supply to regulate and the nipple tenderness to really stop. Also giving bottles early makes babies lazy because bottles are so much easier to get milk out of, It will more than likely make the nipple pain come back because you have to reteach the baby to latch.

Contact a lactation consultant.  You can try nipple sheilds but make sure you put them on properly because if they are not on right they can effect your supply.

I tried to breastfeed him today but it was not happening my baby was crying for like 30 minutes, my nipple was just to big and to hard to even fit in his mouth, I didn't even have any formula, my cousin had to bring me some of her baby formula but I hope my breast don't stay this big for long because I really want to breastfeed him
