I personally don't trust cats around.babies because they are very private but very jealous animals and I'd be afraid of what they'd do. They like the sent of milk and I've heard of them licking the baby's mouth because of the.milk. That's just me though. I'm allergic so I have no interest in them myself.

I had 2 cats when I had my first. I let them sleep in the crib all they wanted to before baby got here and after the baby started sleeping in it they didn't have an interest in it. (I washed everything before I put the baby in there) cats don't really care for the sent of babies. The only thing I had was I held the baby to the cats so they could smell her when we brought her home and I got this advice from an article in babytalk magazine. Also if you are really worried rub orange peels on the side of the crib. Cats hate the smell of citrus. But once baby is occupying the space cats normally will back off. I kept  cat in the same room as me and the crib and never had to use the cat net. Or shut the cat in the bathroom. (We lived with my husbands mom and she wouldn't allow the cats out of our room)

I did exactly as freshlove did. I didn't feel bad at all. Your baby is way more important than the cat.

Yeah as far as bumper pads, I'd much rather have.my child bust his.lip or in a worse case break.his arm.from.getting it stuck.then smothering. I never used them they freaked me.out.lol

When my son was a newborn and slept in our room I just made sure our door was shut so cat couldn't get in and that way she still had the rest of the house to roam. Now that Gabriel is in his own room and in a crib, I just keep his door closed at night so the cat can't get in. This way the cat can still get to her food, kitty litter, toys, etc. and I don't feel bad.

I personally wouldn't feel safe using the cat net because it could fall down, get tangled or backfire if the cat still tries to get in the bassinet and pulls it down on baby...just way to many risks it seems. We aren't even supposed to use bumper pads anymore because they've been found to be useless and cause affixation so I would think we shouldn't use cat nets either.

Drs are usually more protective.of babies then cats are though so you might get lucky on that!

My cat jumped right on top of and through the cat net (before my baby was born luckily!) I just shut the cat in the kitchen at night...sounds a bit mean I suppose, but baby's safety comes first. My cat soon adjusted to it, and she was around 4yrs old when this happened. With this baby, I will struggle as I have two dogs who sleep in our room now, just have to hope that they dont go near the moses basket or I will have to come up with new sleeping arrangements for them, I'm picking it up from my mum on thursday so fingers crossed the dogs arent interested in it!!

What about shutting your bedroom.door or the nursery door which ever so they can't get in there. I mean its just like having a second or third child, everyone including the babies (pets) that are already there have to make sacrifices. Might sound insensitive but if you can't find any thing on the Kitty net that makes you comfortable with it then your baby has to.come first

I have two cats n I put the bassinet up early so they could get used to it bein in my room. Only one cat has gotten in it n I was right there to push him out. I jus put a lil blanket ova the top of it, but I'm still kinda nervous about the way they will react when the baby gets here. Which will b soon...hopefully. I'm trying to get them to sleep in otha parts of the house n it helps that its warmer outside. Good luck! :)

yh i thought that but its not really fair on the cat soon as the baby comes the cat gets shut in the bathroom. surely that would make her jelous x

I've never even heard of it, but have you considered putting the cat in the bathroom or laundry room at night?
