Pregnancy tests (longish post)

Hi, I'm having some really strange results on pregnancy tests.  I recently started the mini pill and wasn't overly careful with it but the hormone was in my system when I did the do.  I have been using cheap pg tests because I can't believe I could really be pg.  My pg tests seem to support this because they are negative, however I keep getting v v faint lines within the time limits.  These lines dissapear after a the test read times, but as the stick absorbes the sample, after a second there is a reaction on the second line and there is a positive result for about a minute.  It then goes off leaving this faint line.  Now if I was pg I would be about 7 weeks now, and I've always got positive pg tests in the past at post ovulation cycle day 13/14, so I know I'd get a positive properly if I was.  So what is this wierd little thing.  I keep doing the test because I've got sore boobs, sickness in waves, and other symptoms I've had before when pg.  I know this is probably paranoia and I know I'm driving myself mad, but these blooming lines keep appearing.  Any ideas on what this could be?  Should I be concerned I could be pregnant?  Has this ever happened to anyone before?  If so what was the result?  Thanks for reading.

Thanks for the reply doc.  I'm just relieved its all over with.  Some people told me its normal to have a hcg of anything up to 5 without having been pregnant?  Is that right?  I am a couple of days late for my period which usually begins with spotting, so I don't know whether or not its because my level is not at 0 yet?

What do you suggest I ask my dr?  To do another blood test to recheck my levels have returned to 0 right?  Sorry to be dense and thanks again.

Hello,

Thanks for the update.  I suggest you follow up with your physician to make sure the hCG level is undetectable.

Best regards,

Dr. Downing

Hello, well I have news, I got my blood test results.  I have a HCG of 1.2, so I guess that means I had a chemical pregnancy right, or do you ever have HCG in your system and not have been pregnant???

Ok so I didn't think you did, but maybe I'm wrong.  Never mind at least it explains everything and I am formally not insane.
