parental leave
partner can't get any parental time off at all after originally being told he could take up to 2-3weeks off and still be paid. they've turned around and said they 'made a mistake' and at the most by the time baby comes would only have about 2 maybe 3 days saved up on leave because he used them earlier when we thought he could get parent leave.
I have no idea how i am going to handle having to do it all alone in those first few 'settling in' days on my own while he works. We dont have a choice but for him to work because we have no real savings. I am only 19yrs old, no family around here and my friends all disappeared from my life now..
ahhh, sorry i'm just suddenly really stressed and scared over this after planning around him actually having time off.

Paid parental leave
Employees may be entitled to paid parental leave on top of their unpaid leave entitlements. Paid parental leave can include employer-funded and government-funded schemes.
Australian Government Paid Parental Leave scheme
The Australian Government Paid Parental Leave scheme is for working parents of children born or adopted on or after 1 January 2011.
The scheme provides a maximum of 18 weeks pay at the National Minimum Wage. This applies to eligible primary carers of newborn or adopted children. The payments are made by the Government to the employer, who then pays it to the employee.
The payments can be paid before, after, or at the same time as existing entitlements such as annual leave, long service leave and employer-funded paid parental leave.

Dad and Partner Pay
Paid leave for dads and partners started to apply on 1 January 2013. This is up to 2 weeks' pay at the National Minimum Wage for working dads or partners (including same-sex partners).
These payments are made by the Government directly into the employee's bank account once their claim has been finalised.

We're in australia and apparently he has to have been working for them for 12mnths before getting any time off :(
Where do you stay? In the UK, as long as you have been with your employer for 26w before baby is due, you're automatically entitled to 2w statutory paternity pay x
He can take off whatever he wants, but only get paid for 2-3 days at the most. we really need the money so only option is to work 12hrs a day and i just try my best..
My boyfriend has the same thing except he can only take 1 day off. I'm scared to say the least
Oh such jerks... Will they let him have off like 1-3 days a week so he can help you ???
