6 weeks 1 day

Hello, my name is Heather and im 6 wks 1 day pregnant, this is my first pregnancy and im 20 years old. I made an appointment and its still not for another 2 1/2 weeks. anyways, one of the first things i noticed about my pregnancy, is that i was having cramps & pressure down in my abdomen area. I didn't take a pregnancy test then, i thought it was just my period, that was about 2-3 weeks ago, well my question is, sometimes i still do get cramps & pressure down there, i asked the nurse at the doctors office, and she said it was normal and it was the uterus expanding, so if you guys have any information on if its normal or not, please let me know!!... thank you
heather

Hi, my name is Nicole, I just want to let you know I am 9 weeks pregnant. This is my second pregnancy and I experienced the exact same thing with my last pregnancy and I am going through the same thing with this pregnancy. It is completely normal and it will go away eventually, it did for me at least. Some things you experience will seem scary since this is your 1st pregnancy, but I am sure everything you will go through will be normal. I got a book, What to expect when your expecting by Eisenberg, Murkoff, and Hathaway, you should get it. It goes through every month, what symptoms you could experience and what they mean. What things you should be concerned about if they happen. It also has common questions from expecting mothers and the answers. It was really great. Congrats. I got to go my daughter is crying, you'll love every minute of it. It's so wonderful being a mother.

Hello,

We generally recommend waiting till about 8-9 weeks before the first prenatal visit so you are right on track.  What you describe sounds normal.  You'll be noticing a lot of changes to your body over the course of this process.  Keep asking questions and best of luck.

It is totally normal from everything I'v been told. I was told to only be concerned if the pain is accompanied with bleeding, or if the pain is unbearable and continuous. Then a call in to your obgyn would be recommended. Otherwise, cramping and other pressure-like pains in the lower abdomen are normal. Congrats to you on your pregnancy!
