Traumatic Event :(

Thursday night into Friday morning we had someone break into our house. My husband was forced to shot at this man 6 times. Thank God it was with bird shot and he was unharmed. I am 36 weeks pregnant. I instantly went into contractions. The ambulance came and checked me out, it was false labor that lasted a little over 2 hours. I'm just stressing. Having nightmares and scared to go back home. I'm worried my stress will harm our baby. I don't know what to do to calm down. Does anyone have advice as to how I can help get passed this and if this type of stress can potentially harm our baby?

We've been staying at my parents house but they are 3 houses down from us. And yes he was on drugs. I want to feel bad for this man because his wife and child left him last month and he just lost his job. I'm praying it was his wake up call. But over all left my husband and I in a state of shock that we are now struggling to over come.

Do you have family you can stay with for a couple of days? Or can you take a weekend trip away to calm down? Was your neighbor on drugs.

This man shot a hole in to the babies nursery before my husband shot at him. We have 3 dogs, one husky and 2 medium size dogs. Our husky charged the man until he shot. It very possible he was aiming for her.
My husband's blood pressure is heart attack worthy not at 220/120
He is so paranoid now that each time we go to that house he caries a gun with him. The man who attacked us was our neighbor who lived across the street from us so we are constantly looking to see if anyone has been to his house. My husband doesn't have insurance and not only am I just terrified over everything that happened I am now worried I'm going to hurt our baby and I am now worried my husband will have a heart attack.
I'm going to see my doctor to see what he can recommend to help me calm down. Just mentally and physically tired now and very on edge

I don't mean to scare you even more but that happen to my mom when she was pregnant with my sister. It didn't only startle my mom it scared my sister enough to jump around inside and she wrapped herself up in the umbilical cord...

THANK GOD FOR YOUR HUSBAND AND HIS GUNS! My husband just started buying them for our protection, but I agree with the dog comment, I have a huge German shepherd  he's really old now but just his bark and size is enough to scare someone off and there is no doubt in my mind he would give his life to protect us. After he passes I'm planning on getting a malemute

Do you have a dog? I would get one. I have a 100lb. male doberman and a female bullie and they are the best home defense you could have. They alert to anything out of the norm. We also have many guns:) did you file a police report? If so the police may step up patrol in your neighborhood which is nice. Maybe consider going to the hardware store and getting additional locks on the doors. They have many cool ones that make it almost impossible to kick a door in. I for sure wouldn't be home alone though if I didnt have a dog or gun to protect myself. Make sure your windows are covered and your porch light is on. Maybe even let your neighbors know what happened so you extra eyes looking out for you. Im sorry you had to go through that:(

I'm so sorry to hear that. Thank God you all are okay. Any stress can hurt your baby, even with you being as far along as you are. The best thing to do in this situation is pray. I had this happen to me a few weeks ago and I was only 14 weeks, but it is a scary situation. I prayed and stay with a friend until I was okay enough to go back home. My boyfriend took extra precautions to secure the house but even with that I was still too scared to go back, home. Be around people who will take your mind off of it and again, take your time going back home. Even,if it's just you stay one night and gradually work your way up to sleeping in the house full time like you were. But don't stress.
