Uterine lining after an IUD and TTC

Hello, I had a Mirena IUD removed this past week. I had it in for a year and a half. I had it placed at my 6 weeks post partum visit. Prior to that I had nursed. So I have not had a period since April 2006. I never bled during nursing and never had a period or much spotting while on the IUD.
Now ttc baby #2. How long until my uterine lining builds up and I have a normal period? It has been years since I had one.. ALSO
How long should I wait to actively try for a pregnancy?

Hi!  You will have to change your nickname if you succeed!
According to the manufacturer, you should expect your period within 4-6 weeks--presuming you ovulate normally.  There is no reason not to try right away.  Once you do have your period, you will be able to time things a bit better.  I have had a few patients who never did have a period, and launched right into another pregnancy--so keep that in mind and check that out if you don't have a period soon.

Good Luck!

Hi there. It just so happens one of my childrens names is Quinn too! Anyway, I had the Copper IUD in place for 7 yrs after MY Quinn was born and had it removed in Feb of 08, then fell preg only 2 months later. Sadly that pregnancy ended in M/C in April. I attribute the M/C to a lack of uterine lining from IUD use. I am still ttc and it's nearly 7 months later. I have heard of women getting preg shortly after IUD was removed and having perfectly fine pregnancies though, so I think each case is unique. Good Luck to you!
