Your doctor will not do an amniocentesis just for purposes of testing paternity, because of the risks to the baby. However, there are labs in the US that do DNA paternity testing before the baby is born, by simple blood draw from the (arm of the) mother and the putative fathers. That's the good news, but the bad news is that the cost of the prenatal DNA testing is two thousand dollars or more, and doing it after the baby is born costs only about a tenth as much.
I had it done it was done around 16 wks it isnt so bad jus scary but their is a very low possibility of misscarring and the results also reveals ur baby's gender and any birth defects basically the doctor put numbing medicine on ur tummy and insert a needle and withdraw fluid from around ur baby while the nurse is doing a unltasound monitoring urbaby u will also be able to see ur baby its very quick also dnt worry about ur sac lealeaking after the needle is withdrawn ur sac absorb right back together u also get tons of pictures of ur baby dey even captured a sonogram pic of my baby yawning=) results *** back in about 7-10 days I recommend it jus to get it over with ur headed for a vet stressful
No one should bash u on here. If they do they should not be on this sight. A lot of women r unsure of their babies father and I would have to agree to wait until after the baby is born to have a DNA test since there is a risk of loosing the baby. How do the guys feel about the situation?
It'd probably be safer to wait till baby comes for a DNA test. Talk to your doctor about the risks.
I have the same issue actually. I think I know who it is because whenever I dream about the baby I dream about him. A friend said it. Could just be because I want it to be him, but I'd really rather it be the other guy. I haven't said anything to either of them because I don't know. But you can always do a test after the baby is born. I feel like that'd be a lot safer. In my case one guy had blonde hair blue eyes the other black hair and brown eyes so I'm kinda hoping that will help me since I can't afford a test.
Look into it. I personally wouldn't do it because there is a chance that can terminate your pregnancy. Ask your Dr about percentages and do your own research.
I've read it can cause a miscarriage. I would say you need to talk to the possible father's and let them know once baby arrives you would like a DNA test done ASAP
Maybe you could figure it out by blood type. Then maybe you could avoid amino, which has a risk of miscarriage. Talk to your doctor very bluntly. He or she will have the best input.
