Hello,
A pregnancy can be detected as early as 8 days after ovulation. HPTs differ in sensitivity; however, the two best (First Response Early Result and Clearblue Easy Earliest Results) can detect a pregnancy at the time of the missed menses (generally ~two weeks after conception). If negative, repeat in one week (and/or pay a visit to your ob/gyn).
Best regards,
Dr. Downing
I'm going through the same thing. I was on BCP for 12 years before stopping a month ago. It's very difficult to gauge when your period is supposed to come because your cycle changes when you get off the pill. It is very frustrating. My last period was on Sep 15 so if I assume my cycle is the same as when I was on the pill (i.e. 28 days) then I am 2 weeks late today. But pay attention to your body. Do you know when or if you possible ovulated? I am pretty sure I ovulated 17 days ago...because i had the egg white discharge that day. So I think if you're supposed to get your period 2 weeks after you ovulate, i am 3 days late, not 2 weeks. I took 5 HPT's in the last 2 weeks...the first 3 negative and the last two (today and 2 days ago) were a faint positive. I suspect I am PG now not just from the results but the symptoms - very nauseous, hungry all the time, sensitive to smell, lower back pain, sore breasts and feeling extremely tired even after a long night's sleep. Be patient, feel out your body and if anything you can always go to the doctor to figure out what's going on. I understand how you feel - it's frustrating to go from getting your period at the same time each month to not knowing when it will come. The pill does change your cycle so you may or may not be late. I am going to the Doctor on Monday to get a definite answer. Good luck to you! Try not to stress... I know I did and still am!
its very possibale that your just delaying your period, i done the same thing as you when i stoped taking my pills, i didnt have a period for 2 months. if you dont get it in another week and still a neg p/t go check with your doc to see whats delaying it. good luck
