OT but how many of you have NOT ever NOT given your hubby an illness when you were sick?

Kinda stupid question, but I had tonsil problems all last weekend. I didn't feel really horibble except for a couple of the evenings i would feel a bit weak and feverish(never had a temp tho). I felt fine most of the time. My tonsils were swollen and tender, my glands were swollen, and I had lots of white pus all over them. My throat was fine though, it didn't hurt to cough or swallow or eat, except spicy food and highly carbonated drinks. I was thinking I had tonsillitis I started seeing the puss on thursday, felt weak on Friday and some of Saturday. It was at its worse on those days. I called my regular doctor on Thursday for an appointment but she doesnt work that day and they were closed until monday so I just made the appointment on monday. I have been kissing my fiance the entire time because it didn't feel like I was really sick, I felt fine most of the time. And it seemed to be going away by sunday night.

Well I went to the appointment on Monday and my doctor said that she could see what I was talking about but it didn't look like I really had anything. She told me to just gargle with salt water and if it persists to come back.  She did a culture anyways and sent it off. I figured I had wasted my $25 copay lol. Low and behold her assistant calls me this morning and says well you were positive for Strep! I was like WHAT?! I don't feel like I have strep at all! I mean its understandable since I felt sick for a few hours of the time, but it didn't feel like strep at all. When I get strep its always BAD.

My question is that whenever you have strep or are sick, do you still kiss your honies? If you do, did they ever NOT get your illness. How often did they or didn't get sick. I erally hope I don't get him sick because he doesn't have any medical insurance and it would be VERY expensive for him to get treated. Any experiences would be great!

Oh and by the way I started AF so I am not pregnant...wooh kind of relieved. Back to BC for me! AF scared me being 3 days late!

I know that Strep is very contagious.  So, he could get sick.

Here in Texas, Walgreens and Wal-Mart are starting to open clinics in certain locations and it is very affordable IMO for someone that doesn't have insurance.  It is normally $60 a visit.  Now, I know that sounds like a lot of money, but many doctors can charge up to $160 just to be seen, so $60 is much cheaper than that.  You don't need an appointment either.  Infact, they don't take appointments; only walk-ins.  And they have extended hours during the work week and are also opened on Sat. & Sun.  We have used this clinic (the one at our local Walgreens) a few times for our kids and I went once for myself.  There is also some program that has many antibiotics that are only $4 here.  Target and Walmart both participate in that program.  May want to check it out just incase.......

I don't know what the incubation is for various illnesses, but I figure that by the time you get sick, you have already passed on the virus. However, I do think you are more contageous when you have a fever. To be safe, I would stay away from mouth to face contact till you are healed...just in case. In the meantime I would have your honey take some multi vitamins and add some extra vitamin c into his diet so that he can combat anything you may have unknowingly passed. That may help, not sure though.

I remember my DH had a really bad cold, he even termed it "the plague", one year and I never caught it. That thing lasted forever and I was just fine the whole time...kissing and all. :)

Hope you feel better soon. :)

I seem to have a hardier immune system so my hubby usually catches whatever I have however, I am rarely sick...so its kind of a non issue...My husband had mono and for awhile we thought it was just the flu or something and we were dating at this time so we couldn't keep from kissing etc.  Well, he got diagnosed with mono, and shortly after, my best friend got mono, and the only connection was me...I got tested and they told me I was a carrier of the virus but not someone who gets ill but I can transmit it to other people...well, my best friend and I shared everything like drinks and food so through that, I 'carried' mono over to her!  Good luck!

I never had a fever but i know that doesn't excuse me. I never was really sick, I feel pretty much fine. Not 100% but pretty normal. I mean...even my doctor said she assumed the results would be negative. I figured I had a small viral infection, but nope! Most of the time when he gets sick, I dont. I used to get sick a lot on my own...but this is the first time in a year or so that I have actually gotten sick, but I don't even really feel sick! lol Funny. I don't think he ever got sick from me either.

Michele,
I didn't know walmart or walgreens had a clinic...That would be cool is we had that here in AZ. I know that we have the whole 4 dollar perscriptions, but I am wondering about the clinic thing. I have to go to walgreens today to get my antibiotics(another pill to add to the daily intake!)

I feel like I am falling apart! I mean...I get bad UTIs constantly so I went to the urologist for testing, normal so I guess I just can't fight infections in there so I got meds to take daily to prevent them, I have Lexapro to take on a daily basis for my anxiety disorder, I am going back on BC so there's another pill, I have a dermoid cyst on my ovary that I need to have surgery thats going to take 4 weeks to recover from, now I have strep throat! :( And I am on my period and its pretty bad! Heavy, clotted, and lots of cramps and tummy aches. I am just hating life lately. *sighs*
