Lol my friend was scheduled to be induced at 3 in the afternoon in march and we went to waffle house and stuffed our faces and she was perfectly fine!
I think you should eat before because once you go in you will probably be on a clear diet (ie broth, ginger ale, jello)...I think they do that just in case you need c section. It's precautionary and ***** but they don't want you aspirating if you need emergency c sec. That first meal afterwards will taste the best, even if its hospital food lol I'm so excited to hear your announcement :)
I believe they tell you not to eat because if something goes wrong and you're way to sedated to move you can throw up and it can go into your lungs. And even though they can aspirate you they can't remove solid food from your lungs. Its just an extra safty precaution. I believe thats why they tell us no food.
I think they normally do it for the purpose of incase they need to do an emergency c section the food in your stomach could react bad with anesthesia and there's be more problems than anything. But I didn't get it either they starve you the whole time you labor and then you get sick and weak and they say time to cut you open then since you're too weak to push baby out! Doesn't add up if you ask me
Tay - that would be my worst nightmare lol. I was awake almost 50 hours in hospital, i had breakfast before i went in then they gave me the rest. During labour they don't encourage meals, but snacks, energy bars, chocolate, crisps, sandwiches, they encourage you to eat x
My doc told me to eat before I was induced! And I just started on Pitocin. I wasn't able to because my Hubs was too lazy to drive to the other side of town and get me some food before we went up but I wish I had! The jacka** ate all day with me laying there starving. I coulda killed him. lol
