    Ive been on birth since i was 12 and i just recently got my period on july 19 2007 and stoppd using the patch.My doctor gave me yaez the pills and told me not to start them till i get my period it is know august 11 and i havent gotten my period. I took pregneacy test..negative so my question is is is normal it takes forever to get your period agian and.. i was told i can start the pill if i was not pregnant and i was told i cant till i get my period i dont know witch one so i havent started it...help please

I started taking birth control about six months ago because I had gastric bypass surgery. I stopped taking them on August 15th. How long will it take to get the birth control to get out of my system so I can get pregnant?

Hello,

If there is a possibility you could have an early pregnancy wait until your menses comes.  If it does not come in 1-2 weeks, repeat the pregnancy test.  Since you've been on the pill since 12 it may not be clear whether you spontaneously have regular periods.  If you don't have a menses by the end of 2 weeks call your doctor.
