I'm surprised by the doctors answer that sit ups and crunches are okay because the big pregnancy book I received from my doctor says that they are an exercise that you shouldn't do after your first trimester.
My specialist said that when baby is being less active to try drinking something cold or eating ice! Hope that helps.
Hi!
If you were my patient, I would advise you that it is completely fine to do sit ups--you won't squish your baby. It is important to always monitor the baby's movements, but they will be more active sometimes than others.
If you ever get really worried--call your doctor or go in.
Sit ups or crunches are good to help keep those pushing muscles in shape.
Good luck!

I don't know if you should be worried or not. Drink something sugary like orange juice then lay back and relax and see if baby becomes more active. If baby doesn't then I would call your doctor or labor and delivery. As far as the sit ups, they are not an exercise you should be doing while pregnant.
