Back Labor questions.....

Okay, im asking these questions about back labor because I have never had it with any of my pregnancies, but I suspect that I am having it now.

Im having this constant extreme lower back pain, worse than a bad menstrual cramp. I am also having really strong contractions here and there, not really painful, but strong.

What does back labor feel like?
Does it come and go?
And does back labor help with changes in the cervix?

I have tried to relieve the pain by using the bathroom #1 and #2 (sorry) because I notice when my bladder is full I get contractions, or if I need to relieve myself by going #2 I get contractions....But im not having any decent BM, im literally getting rabbit pellets (tmi sorry)lol.

Does this sound like anything is going on?

Hubby noticed a lot of changes in me here the past 2 days. I have been super cranky, and no matter how much sleep I get that is undisturbed I still feel like I could lay down and sleep 3 days straight. I also have no energy, and have to be coaxed to do anything, like shopping, cooking dinner and so forth....when I used to have a lot of energy to do those things with reserved energy afterwards.

Should I get up and start moving around to see if they keep going or get stronger....or should I just sit and relax?

I hate not knowing if this is it or not, I wish Conner would poke his little hand out holding a sign that said *24 hrs mommy* lol

Thank you for any input.

I dont think he will....and even if he does it doesnt mean it will send me in labor. Im just really fed up with the pain. I know it is part of being pregnant and getting *ready* but my goodness this is my 4th child, it shouldn't take this long to get *ready* for labor lol.

Well, atleast you got to sleep some.  Let's us know if your doctor does in fact strip your membranes,  I don't know why he wouldn't.  Unless you go in and your fully dialated lol....

But I would just tell him your not getting any sleep, and contracting back, my friend told her doctor that and he stripped hers.  SO maybe he will!  Hopefully!!

Im still preggo.....I was doing good up until about an hour ago. I was able to finally fall asleep at 2am and my back was fine up until now. Seems like I get more uncomfy as the day goes by. I have my docs appointment tomorrow so we will see.

back labor usually is caused by the baby being in a posterior position when they are spine to spine with you, It's a big pain in the butt because the baby has to flip over on the way out and the contractions tend to be irregular, i was in labor for 18 hrs and with me even though i dialated to 6 cms quickly with out being in too muh pain and feeling like i had to poo for hrs they induced my contractions so they were stonger to get bub to flip over. next time i will listern when they tell me to try and get him to flip.

I know I have back labor and contractions due to my uterus is tilted to my back.   So I guess it may be different for everyone!

mj_mommy_manda-  I hear the dull back pain with diarrhea is a sign that labor is about to start.  So just a heads up!

bts- it's kind of funny your man grabbed himself and said, "Nope!"  ahahaha  just tell him he is in for seeing something wonderful LOL  Maybe he should watch the baby come out, that scared my hubby!  Ahaha but then afterwards he got over it.  And said to me, "I didn't know it could stretch out that far, holy ****!"  I then asked...."well how the hell do you think a baby can fit out otherwise!?"  ahahaha

I think i'd much rather have back contractions, because I actually have a horrible back.  I have L4 and L5 herniated discs, so the back contractions actually cause some relief from my constant back pain I always feel.  But then when i'm pushing the baby out, it feels like i'm trying to blow something out my butt.  Sorry if that's too graphic, but if you couldn't imagine, thats the only way to explain it!  Ahaha

My friend went into back labor and she was 4 days over due and she said she just felt like she had to do to the bathroom (#2) and she tried and tried and nothing! She felt aches in her back but nothing severe or painful (to where she would think she was in labor). She called her doctor and he told her to come in and get checked out. Well she was dilated and in back labor! She also said it wasn't painful until her water broke and than the contractions started and they were all throughout her back! Ug I can't imagine! But she said she wasn't in any pain until then, it just felt like she had to poo for hours. I believe it took her over 12 hours to deliver and all I remember he saying was, once she got to the hospital and her water broke, it was the most painful thing ever!! I always wondered what causes someone to go into back labor? Anywho, good luck and hang in there!

I just found this post and I have been having the same **** all day.. ugh its starting to make me REALLY mad.. its like in my lower back and it wont go away.. it goes to my outer lower back and then to my hips and sometimes creeps around my stomach and moves up then goes away for like 2 seconds and comes back.. I highly doubt its labor because Im not screaming in pain.. but I know what you mean about him being so low.. I feel like jadyn is literally gonna stick his head out of my crotch and say hi to me! ugh theres so much pressure down there.. I wish my water would just break already.. My mom is pleading with him to come another night because she has been bedridden with a bad headache since like 4 lol.. me on the other hand.. I would like him to wait a few days until my birthing ball gets here. lol oh yeah.. i have been having diarrhea since the  backpain started too.. im just a little worried because i have always gotten mentrual cramps in my back.. i dont even know what it feels like to get cramps in the front other than the couple of times i have had these weird cramps in my belly today.  Idk I dont want to go in cuz I cant even time anything cuz it doesnt go away! lol

Well this will be hubby's first birth, He was in the army before and deployed all the other times, so the poor man has no idea what to expect. He says he knows it will be painful...but he has no clue. I told him to let me kick him in the groin over and over back to back so he knows what a contraction feels like for a woman, and his eye's just got all wide, and he grabbed himself and was like uhhhh nope lmao.

I didn't think of grabbing a towel, but I went ahead and did lol. I doubt my water will break but then again labor and pregnancy is very unpredictable lol.

I just wish I could call my doc and have him induce me, but I know what his answer will be lol. I know on Monday at my appointment (if im still preggers) Im going to seriously black mail him into stripping my membranes. Im going to threaten to stay in his office until he does it lmao....

ahaha and a baby duh!  LOL   But yeah I understand!

Maybe have a towel underneath you incase your water breaks.  Ahaha so no mess on the couch!  Ahaha

Guys are so funny.  My husband thought I was in pain right before I had my kids, AHAHA after my water actually broke, which I wasn't in pain before that just uncomfortable, I almost broke both his hands, both times!  LOL

The doctors litterally pulled his hands out from mine because they could hear the bones starting to crack!  AHAHA!  :)

I tried the heating pad and ice....and nothing lol. I think Im just going to sit here on the couch and ride it out. If it happens then great! If not...my messy house will still be messy tomorrow lol

Hubby is excited....but he isn't ready to see me in pain I dont think. He thinks im in pain now...wait until D-Day! Me on the other hand....im praying for pain, because pain means labor, and labor means delivery, and delivery means RELIEF! lol

I think he is getting ready then!  It should happen soon!

He is more then likely just getting more into position for you!  If you had some icy hot, ahaha it would help relieve it  some...I have this lotion that's a muscle relaxant, that doesn't go through your skin that is like icy hot that does wonders!  Ahaha!

Maybe if you have an heat pad, for 15 mins, then ice for 10 mins.  See if that helps.  Otherwise you have to stick it out!  I wish there was something I could tell you that would help, but obviously everyone is different.

Like I said though, it sounds like he is just getting ready!

Well getting up does hurt.....I get very little relief from walking, infact walking kinda pisses me off right now lmao. I had a few strong BH contractions where I got super tight but no pain. I have had this back ache for a few days, but it suddenly got worse tonight.

Conner is moving so I know he is okay....lastnight I had flu like symptoms without the sick feeling. I had a huge body ache from head to toe, and it seems like every bit of that pain migrated to just my lower back.

I refuse to go to the hospital unless my water breaks or the contractions make me feel like putting hubby threw a brick wall lol, My hospital is a mile down the road so reguardless I should make it, unless Conner decides to just start crowning out of nowhere lol which is doubtful.

Im not getting my hopes up at all! I don't feel like im in labor....I just feel super aggitated and annoyed lol.

Alright back contractions and labor do change your cervix!!

Both my labors were all back contractions, the constant pain and i felt nothing in my stomach, so you very very very well could be in LABOR!

My back contractions are, moderate to extreme back pain, that hurts so bad, it feels like your back is broken!  If you get up and start walking, it should get worse if it's actually contractions!!

Nothing will help this pain, so it almost sounds like you might be.  Try walking and let me know...  :)

It could be Conner started to bear down with the pressure on you, and getting ready to go on your way here!

Can I be in labor with just the back pain and no real contractions though? The contractions let up a bit even though I have one here and there.

I thought the other night was painful lol, I can't even clean.

I had that energy last week. I didnt go to bed at all, I just stayed up all night and all day the next day cleaning. I was fine and full of energy until yesturday when I noticed that drained feeling.

The pain im having aren't like knives, it's not a sharp pain, but a dull achy feeling. It hurts like no other, well more annoying than anything. It's constant, and a warm bath and shower didnt help. I had hubby rub my back and still nothing....usually his back rubs feel really good, but it just didnt do anything for my back this time. I tried stretching....and nothing. I can't get comfy either, sitting hurts, laying hurts, standing especially hurts cuz Conner is so low.

I took an extra strength Tylenol 2 hours ago, and it didnt even phase the pain at all......

I don't even think I could clean even if I wanted to....the ache is just sooooo mind boggling.
