nuchal tranclucency thickening

my 12 week nuchal translucency test came back normal, then at my 18 week one, there was a cyst on the babie's brain, and renal pelvic dialation. I went for another scan at 23 weeks, the cyst was gone, and the kidneys were normal (no dialation), but now there is a thickening of the nuchal translucency, and calcifications in the diaphram, the doctor said his main concern was the nuchal translucency, and that it could be a marker of down syndrome, but unlikely because my 12 week tests said low risk. Is this true, and can this thickening be normal, or ia it likely that my baby has down syndrome?

I had an increased NT level and they did a level 2 ultrasound to check for the markers that martika mentioned.  I think it would be a good idea to get that u/s before making any further decisions.  Good luck.

Mumita is correct.
My son has down syndrome. I'm 22 years old.

You need to have the baby's heart looked at for any abnormalities, and have a ultrasound to check and see if there is a nasal bone, as well as the circumfrence of the belly checked and compared with the head.

if there are any abnormalities in the heart (%60 of babies with down syndrome have some) and if there is no nasal bone (a marker for D/S) and if the belly is considerably large.... then those are all markers for down syndrome and I'd suggest you have an amnio done. :)

Good luck. I personally don't think your baby has it, but please keep us informed! if you want, go to my profile and read my journal. I have information on down syndrome on there!

the nuchal translucency is only accurate between 11-14 weeks or something like that, the further along you are the less accurate.  At this point the only accurate test is an Amniocentesis to find out if your baby is ok.
