Hi!
Your daughter almost certainly has/had a blighted ovum. This is a (unfortunately) common condition in which all of the signs and symptoms of pregnancy are positive, and a sac develops, but no fetus ever forms.
We don't know why this happens. What we do know is that your daughter did nothing wrong and it wasn't her fault. We also know that while it is common for this to happen once, it is unlikely to happen to the same individual MORE than once. In other words, her next pregnancy is quite likely to be normal and healthy.
Please reassure your daughter that it wasn't her fault, and that she is likely to be able to conceive again with better results next time!
Good luck!

Well whrn this happened to me I was told it's called a Molar pregnancy. I had the same thing happen September of last year. I contined to take my prenatal vitimans and i am pregnant now and the baby is there.
Hi,
I just found out I was pregnant this past week. I went to my gono a couple days ago and she said everything looked fine, but did not confirm the pregnancy. She said according to my last period I am 8 weeks. I am very irregular with my periods, and that was a tentative date I gave her. I went yesterday for blood work and I am waiting to hear about my hcg levels. Today, I went for an unltrasound and they could only see the sac, and the yolk. The tech and the doctor told me today that I may just be very early in my pregnancy. I am scheduled for another ultrasound in two weeks. I am just very nervous and concerned. I just read above on the other comment, and that is a scary feeling. The Dr today said, that if the yolk is there then there should be nothing to worry about. Please, If you have any information or help I would greatly appreciate it. Also, I started to take my prenatal vitamins right when I found out.
Thank you very much
Thank you so much for your comment, it is very reasuring to know there is a positive future for her .many thanks.
