spotting

I am 10 weeks pregnant. I am spotting brownish/redish discharge. I just had an ultrasound today and the baby measures normal and has a heartbeat, but I am still worried because I have had previous unexplained "missed" miscarriages at around 10 weeks. If I am not bleeding red, and not having cramps, should I be concerned about this spotting?

Went to the ER today because the spotting turned into light bleeding and had lots of mucus discharge. Three doctors saw me. They found an empty sac and they told me that what they saw on the sac was very tiny. They called it an abnormal pregnancy from the beginning and sholud expect a miscarriage.

I spotted pinkish/brownish  discharge for almost 2 weeks straight starting around 8 weeks.
I went to the hospital and the doc told me alot of women spot between weeks 7-11 because of the changing hormones around those weeks that cause increased blood flow in the cervix.

So as long as you're not bleeding red, and aren't cramping really bad, you shouldn't worry.

But you said you've had problems around that time before- so I'd suggest just keeping in touch with your doctor and carefully monitor yourself and take it easy.

Best of luck!

I also started spotting on and off since Sunday, which made me 10 weeks pregnant. I'm almost 11 weeks now. I spotted just once at 8 1/2 weeks and completely stopped. Now since week 10 spotting has been on and off. I'm spotting dark red to brown. The midwife told me is nothing to worry about that is common during the first trimester. I wanted her to do an ultrasound (she is at a big university of doctors) but instead gave me an appointment to the OB almost 4 weeks from today!!! I am freaking out. I wish I could find a Doctos that is more open to do testing or that is more available. Any advice where I can find someone that does a little more for their patients?

i am 5 wks pregnant on bedrest. i woke up monday morning spotting brownish/pinkish, i ignored it but couple hours later when i was in class i started to feel funny abdominal feelings not really pain but it just didnt feel right, so i  left school and went to the emergency room where they did  blood work and gave me a sonogram they said the baby was fine but the told me that i had a "threatened abortion", so they told me i need to be on bedrest for at 20wks. I am so scared but trying to keep a positive attitude b/c around this time a year ago i had the same problem but i had a miscarriage. i am praying that the same thing dont happen to me again.

I spotted with my first child who was born happy, healthy, & weighed 9 lbs. 7 oz. She is 6 yrs. old now. I also spotted w/ my current pregnancy, and all is well so far. I am 29 weeks now. I'm sure you'll be fine... Some women just seem to do that while pregnant, including me...

Once you hear the heartbeat the chance of miscarriage goes down significantly. Surprisingly early pregnancy bleeding/spotting is actually quite common. Did you by any chance recently have an internal ultrasound, a pap or sex. All three of those can cause spotting. Also, if the blood is brown that means that it is old blood. Only bright red blood means its new.

I had a miscarriage at 6 weeks and didn't even see a spot of blood didn't realize until a routine ultrasound 3 weeks later and had to get a D&C. 6 weeks later found out I was pregnant again... this time at 5 weeks I started bleeding bright red blood worse than a period for 5 weeks straight almost every day. My daughter is now 8 months old and as healthy as can be. I know that after a miscarriage it is SO hard to stop worrying that something is going to go wrong. If you are afraid or worried at anytime contact your doctor just so that you can listen to the heartbeat. Or look online and try renting/buying a doppler. I bought one when I was 10 weeks because I was so afraid that something would go wrong and I cannot explain to the relief to be able to listen to your little ones heartbeat when you are worried. Best feeling in the world. :) Good luck and congrats on your pregnancy!

Hi! I am new to the forum as of today, so that's why I am just now answering your question. By now you will be almost a week and a half further along and things will almost certainly have sorted themselves out one way or another. If the bleeding has stopped completely and you are still hearing fetal heart tones your pregnancy will almost certainly continue. Best Wishes--give us an update!

A lot of women experience spotting during pregnancy, and it is just fine.  However, I understand your concern about m/c.  You could have your HCG levels checked and then go back in a couple of days to see if they are dropping.  It is good that your baby measured normal!  Good luck!
