I'm 34wks now & didn't go to the Dr til 15wks, due to filing for insurance. The day after my first appointment they had me go in for a sono to confirm due date, & I was able to find out the sex that same day. We are waiting on the arrival of our big healthy baby boy. :) the Dr will never want you to wait on prenatals. I was taking some I bought then after I saw the Dr then gave me a different kind. They'll be glad to see you taking care of you & baby.

There is usually a number you call to check on the status of your insurance…I called 211 (I live in TEXAS) and followed the prompts and knew when it kicked in. Also if you know the Dr's office real well they can usually check on your insurance for you by using your SS# But it all depends on the relationship you have with your Dr's office.

I went and seen my Dr at 8+4 and was taking prenatals from the pregnancy resources in my city.

Also don't buy the huge bottles! Just in case your doc prescribes you something! I didnt do that n have a huge bottle if prenatals I'll never take now lol

Im sure if you ask the pharmacist they can point out which is best and show you the generic kind they all are basically the same and you only need to take one a day. :) bit definitely start taking them as soon as possible.

I wouldn't take the nature made brand prenatal plus dha they made me SOOOO sick. But every woman is different! You could ask the pharmacist if they have any suggestions. But you only take one once a day (:

Like the others said there is no reason to wait to take prenatals. As far as the doctor I believe someone else  said this too....state insurance will go back 90 days and most doctors will see you as long as you have applied. But also some doctors wont even see you until you are 10-12 weeks...so you might want to call and just try to make an appt. Explain your situation...the worst they can do is say you have to wait. I had a lot of complications early before my insurance came thru...had 3 office visits, 2 ultrasounds, 3 labs drawn, and a couple phone calls from the doctor...and medicaid went back and covered it all

Your doctor will be mad if you wait and DONT get on prenatals, haha, make sure you're taking them, because this early stage everything is growing and developing and the prenatals really help for healthy development!

Medicaid back pays the doctor office. So as long as you can show proof you have applied they should see you. If not see your local health dept.

When I went in 4 my 1st appointment they just asked me if I was taking prenatals and if I needed anymore.  So I'm sure they wont be mad you started taking them...but if they write you a prescription 4 them it'll be a different brand.  They're all pretty much the same..I've used probably 4 different types lol

Dr will be glad u took the initative by taking the prenatals and they would just prescribe the same thing neway. Prenatals r important once u find out ur pregnant. Once my husband and I started trying I went on them and my dr said it was good that I was already taking them.

It really depends on the doctor but he/she will understand and be glad you took those prenatal vitamins rather than nothing at all I think I'm only 7 weeks today

Wow 14 weeks! Yeah, I really dont want to have to wait super long but I was reading some notice when I got my paperwrk saying it would take 30 to 70 days just for paperwork to process! Just as long as I can get the vitimans and start taking them without going to the dr ill do that for now. Do u think that if I did that the dr would tell me that I should have waited to take
prenatals untill he recommended them or would he just perscribe me the same thing u can get off the shelves? Thanks by the way I feel better about        this now :-)

Go to a pharmacy and ask them for some prenatal vitamins pretty cheap like around $5 I believe my best used to buy them from CVS all the time to make her nails grow

U can get prenatals at any drugstore or target or Walmart...so just go 2 the store and buy some.  And as 4 the doctor...I was also waiting 4 insurance and didn't end up going until almost 14 weeks.  I am now 36 weeks and everything is good!
