Strange Pain

I am a 20 year old female. About 5'8 and 155lbs and in average shape. I am a full time student and I work as an in-home therapist for children with autism.

For the last year or so I have had strange pains in various parts of my body including, but not limited to: my lower back, beneath my shoulder blades, above my collar bone, in my neck, the area between my lower neck and shoulders, sides of my face, jaw, wrists, palms of hands, forearms, sides of my breasts, buttocks, knees, calves, and arches of my feet.

The pain can be describes as a mixture of throbbing, stinging, pinching, and stabbing (depending on where) The pain comes in waves that throb on (varying in intensity from hardly noticeable to very painful) and completely off (no pain at all) The time it lasts can range from 2-3 throbs (a couple seconds) to minutes and sometimes hours (varying in intensity of pain)

It doesn't happen every day. Sometimes I can go for weeks without feeling it or thinking about it at all. Other times I can experience the pain several times throughout the day in the same place or in numerous different places of my body.

It doesn't seem to have anything to do with sleep or activity. I can be walking all day or sitting still in class. Is it possible that it is connected to stress?

I worked at the YMCA for a few months and started "training myself" to run the mile w/o stopping. (I am fairly fit but am definitely not a runner) For about a week or two, I was exercising every other day for about an hour or more at a time. (I hadn't exercised this intensely for years) On the day I chose to run a full mile I was tired, but for the most part felt fine until later that night when I realized I couldn’t lay down and stretch my legs out straight in front of me w/o feeling like they were "stuck". If I straightened my legs, they had to be at least 2 inches off the bed when I was laying down for it not to be painful. I went into the ER the next morning and they drew a panel and a CK which came back extremely inflated at 1550. (I was told a normal CK level was below 100) I was sent home and hold to drink fluids so I was urinating at least every 30 minutes. I came in again the following day for another CK and it had climbed up to over 1600. At this point I was admitted and given 800mg of ibuprophen for the pain as well as constant fluids. They did a number of tests in rheumatology and neurology-- all of which came back completely normal. I also had a muscle biopsy in my arm. Again, perfectly normal. A day and a half later my CK was down to 150 and they let me leave. I have had a number of blood tests since, all of which are normal. ***Did I go into “rabdo” because I was pushing myself too hard, or was this a pre-existing condition related to the "strange pains" that was agitated by the intense and sudden exercise change?

I continue to have the pains throughout different areas of my body even when all levels are normal and all tests come back negative.

In addition, I have chronic back pain in my mid-back and shoulders. What is more concerning is the stabbings pains (very occasional) in both the left and right of my lower back close to my sides that throbs once or twice and goes away. It feels very internal. I have had a couple urinary tract infections in the past. Could it be my kidneys?

When I was 13 until I was 16 I was prescribed Zoloft for anxiety. The Zoloft gave me mood swings so I was also prescribed Lamictal to deal with, what they then decided was Bipolar Disorder. (A few years later I saw a number of psychologists, all of which assured me I was not Bipolar)  To deal with the hyperactive effects of the Lamictal, they perscribed Adderal. -- I suffered hallucinations while on these 3 medications so I was given a prescription for Respidol (an anti-psychotic) When I was 16 I caught on and chose to cold turkey the medications and spent 3 years drug free with the exception of birth control. I am now solely on a low dose SSR for anxiety and irritability.

Any doctor or specialist I've been to can't give me any form of an answer or at least point me in a general direction. I am about to give up on western medicine and start looking at something like acupuncture.

Any ideas???
