Hi,
Thanks for the clarifications. Indeed, some people develop scarring and calcium deposits in the lungs. And aside from ingested mercury, these possible calcium deposits in the lung or in the lymph nodes around the lung may be caused by scarring from old infection such as Histoplasmosis, a fungal infection. The pattern of calcification is also an important factor that you should also bring up during your next doctor's appointment. Take care and do keep us posted.
Hi , thanks for the reply , yes my doctor did go over the results and he just said there are tiny shards in my lungs..( I am under investigation for SLE Lupus) Recently been hospitalized for pleurisy and carditis . He said the tech couldn't tell if they were shards from metal particles or calcium. Seeing As I don't work around metals or have ever in my life. The specialist said i would have had to basically drink mercury for this to happen for it to be metal. I am more concerned if there is calcification . Waiting to go see yet another specialist.
Hi,
How are you? Can you elaborate on the CT scan result? The shards may be foreign bodies especially if there is recent trauma, or organic substances as you mentioned. The best person to evaluate your CT scan result directly is your attending physician who also knows your medical history and symptoms, that can be correlated with the CT scan result. Take care and regards.
