Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
“A neurofibroma is a benign nerve sheath tumor in the peripheral nervous system.” “In contrast to schwannomas, another type of tumor arising from Schwann cells, neurofibromas incorporate many additional types of cells and structural elements in addition to Schwann cells, making it difficult to identify and understand all the mechanisms through which they originate and develop.” Refer: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neurofibroma [
Generally these are harmless benign swellings not causing any symptoms except a lump. However if they are painful or are causing pressure symptoms they would need to be surgically removed.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Hi,
Trure or false. The problem your describing is that when the nerves wrap
around the fat cells? I was told by a Dr. sometimes they need to be removed
surgically due to causing tumors.
Sincerely,Tina

The lumps which come on and off could be neurofibromas. “Neurofibromatosis is a genetically-inherited disease in which nerve tissue grows tumors (e.g. neurofibromas) that may be harmless or may cause serious damage by compressing nerves and other tissues.” Refer: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neurofibromatosis
Hope this helps. I think you should discuss this possibility with your doctor. It is difficult to comment beyond this without examining. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
