Penis concerns.

Hello MDs, if you could please answer this I would be very greatful.

I'm a 16yo male, starting to date, and I'm very self conscious about my penis. I've tried reading stuff online about average size and how to measure but everyone has a different number or way to measure! So my question is, what is the average penis size and how do you properly/medically measure(what counts during intercourse)?

I've read stuff about pressing into the pubic bone when measuring, is that right or is it cheating? My penis also curves downward, is that normal? And do I need to use a cloth measuring tape to properly measure the length because of the curve(Hard to straighten out my errection against a ruler)?

Please clear some of this up for me! Thanks!

I've had small and super big and I like sticking with my fiance's whose right smack dab in the middle.  The one with the super huge penis did not know how to use it properly...so size doesn't always matter.

I`m no MD either but it is measured from pubic bone to tip of flaccid penis (without erection) but stretched. I believe it is done that way to have a neutral comparison of anatomy for pure medical reasons and the average is 3.75 inches. To measure from erections would not be accurate because some guys are smaller in flaccid stage but larger when erect and vice versa. You can always post this on the "Expert Forum" for Sexuality and Relationships to get professional advice.
If you are more interested in the "comparison of erections", you can google "Penis length during erection", I actually just did that for you - and it points to an average of 6.5 inches. I am only guessing that this would be measured from the pubic bone as well because otherwise the possible presence of body fat might reduce the number.

Hiya Kim, thanks for the reply.

Are you sure there aren't doctors? I've seen many MDs replying in other threads and there's a list above (http://www.medhelp.org/physician_profiles.htm) of MDs along with the forums they respond in.

I know I'm not done growing and I know "size doesn't matter"(for most) but still I'm curious/concerned. I just wanted to get some clear answers about these concerns instead of listening to what the media is throwing into the minds of young males, "Your penis is small, you won't be able to please a girl - unless you buy our product".

So I figured the people who could actually give me non-bias answers would be MDs. Every thing else I've read seems to either aim to make teenagers feel bad about themselves or they don't list the methods used, if they actually are a real study!

So any help from a urologist or other MD in answering my questions in my post would be really helpful(Or anyone else with the knowledge!). Thanks!
